But...we could dream. No internet 'mistakes'... one could change themselves and dream of more. Start all over again each day. Nowadays, kids are filmed and on Facebook from birth...

A few OF OUR BELOVED FOSSILS, in it. HOLDEN CARS, @1.01. My 1st car, EH station wagon, but mine was a sedan, paid $250 bucks for it, in 1976 from original owner. High-capacity engine, & 6months later, I found $250 bucks, (same as I paid for it!), under the front floor mat. 2nd one, dunno what model it IS/not was, but my friend's family had a black one, it was stolen. They had it returned, as it was!.I know Black-haired Detective, from Div. 4, Gerard Kennedy, who, some of his mates invited him, to one of their parties. When Gerard Kennedy knocked on their front door to go into the party, one of the guests opened the door, Thought it was The Detectives( forgetting Div.4 was just a TV show) they freaked out, n, flushed all their "STUFF" down the 'Dunny! Have to find someone who actually does their job instead of taking your money.

@@petergoodwin2465 Saw abandoned VJs and VH bodies without a skerrick of rust around the windscreen, but loads of CLs and CMs at wrecking yards as well as on the roads with the plenum and windscreen surrounds chewed out. I was told the "rot" set in with the VK. Must have been the quality of steel or thinner steel used or processes at the factory failed. One guy claimed to me some equipment to do with body treatment broke down at the plant which they never fixed. A wheel alignment shop guy told me they are hard to do an alignment on. A lot of them are crooks. Same problem goes on in USA, probably because shonky work isn't immediately apparent. They deserve all the karma they get.

Had a few FX & FJ Holdens back in the 60’s when you could buy a reasonable example for one or two hundred bucks, I notice the FX has 13” widies this was a popular mod as it lowered the car a bit as well and you could get better tyres than the 15’s there was two ways you could do it the better way was to use the front suspension and rear axle out of a later FC,FE,FC,FB,EK onwards or if you had the dough a ball joint front end from an HR the other way was to cut out the original wheel centres and weld them into the 13” rims thus way you could use the original suspension and axle I did these mods on my old Holdens as well as other” Go faster” bits and pieces, good days indeed!

I was 21 in ‘75. Good to remember how we rode our bikes, no BS. helmets. I still ride a pushy today, still don’t wear a helmet, nanny state!
@millertas2 жыл бұрын
The change came when Carbon Fibre bikes came along making them much lighter and capable of higher speeds. This encouraged the 'Lycra Set' to ride quite quickly along suburban streets when cars backed out of their driveway (for example) riders would often find themselves over the bonnet. You've got to remember - the car rules in this car obsessed country.
@mebeme0074 ай бұрын
No, the change came because doctors and nurses were fed up with seeing too many kids with so many head injuries turning up in ED's all over the country. After all, not every kid rode properly in those days either. Many young boys especially would be racing around in the streets on their bikes, taking risks with traffic all the time. It's all good and well for heroes to bleat about things like "nanny state". But they clearly have no idea what it's like to deal with someone, especially a young kid, who's had their head caved in from hitting the footpath or bitumen, and all the ramifications that come from it, from the individual who is injured, to every one of their family members and friends who are also affected terribly.

As if all of Melbourne had burnt out cars and trailer loads of dumped rubbish all over the place in the 90's. 🤦♀ Meanwhile, that could describe the western suburbs of Sydney, too. Plenty of ferals around that part of Sydney, then and now. Also, Sydney cops a lot more annual rainfall than Melbourne. When it rains in Melbourne, it's more often showers scattered throughout the day with breaks of sunshine in between (hence the 4 seasons in one day nickname it's long had). Where as in Sydney, when it rains, it POURS DOWN for hours on end.
