This clip has a tinge of sadness because it signifies the end of the sensational 70's, yet only just into the 80's it musters up promise of the next decade & more fun times to come. & so it came to pass. amen.

43 years ago. It seems like only yesterday. Great music in those days. Just entering into my teens, What an exciting and scary world it seemed at the time. Chopped my big toe off with the lawn mower and spent 2 months in Maroondah Hospital after the reattachment job. Had to watch the Tigers win the granny from my hospital bed. Still have the mangled toe to remind me.

I'd say it was "once" our city, go there now and the vibe is certainly different to the point that I don't even recognise it anymore...

Well if people had invested more time listening to what Pauline Hanson was trying to say without judging her harshly calling her names our once proud beautiful country wouldn't be far of this clip. Yes modern technology has takin over some for the better some some for the worst but unfortunately Australia has sold its soul for money .

I'm surprised Red Rattlers were still operating in 1980. Great footage. Terrible Grand Final!

carefree and cool australia, a top cricketing nation, things that made me immigrate to australia. Unfortunately a pale shadow of what it was in 1980s

1980 from what I always recall was a mix of classic cars as they would be termed today but the cities still looked very much out of the 1940s with their frontages and handpainted signs abundant on the buildings. Was the same across in Hobart at the time. Great memories.
