Used to love Melbourne, even flew over from Auckland to get engaged their, on the Yarra. What a sad state of affairs, extreme left woke policies has destroyed the place, full of nutters, a place to stay away from.

How about admitting the the level of immigration to Victoria over the last 20 years that has increased the population of Melbourne by 50% is making the place unliveable and that the infrastructure required to support the population growth has contributed to sending the place broke!

Melbourne has been in the top ten most liveable cities in the world for years.
Hello.👋:) Going back to your prevoious comment, from my point of view, some recent ranking sites think that both Melbourne and Sydney are in the top 10 along with a few international hotspots. And someone may disagree with that to a certain extent.

The best way to make Melbourne liveable again is to reduce socialism and let the economy thrive.

They would never vote for that in Melbourne. Melbourne is done for - for at least the next two or three generations. Sadly, regional Victoria (which is abut as anti socialist as you could ever find in this country) suffers as a result.
@aaronbaines7698Ай бұрын
Reduce socialism? Anti-socialist? I'm sure they're just too busy for chatter or you'd upset them. And I wouldn't say 'done for' if it's in a healing process because it had too much going on. Other states are about to become strict, push many people around and drain their wallets dry. Don't let it be you if you're in Oz.

The problem for Melbourne is the council changed the off street parking time. It used to be free after 8.30 so you could still park at 6.30 pay for 2 hours and go for a meal/ movie /pub. But now it is 10.00. So you cannot come in easily and park for a night out.

As an example of lack of competence on the part of the Victorian Government, they bought a large block of land down the street from me. The previous private owner had tried to submit plans for townhouses and after two years through the court system they got knocked back. It got knocked back because of the overlooking rules and also because the surrounding infrastructure is setup for medium sized blocks with free standing homes - so there were going to be privacy, egress, entry, parking problems, etc. So the Victorian Government buys the land and then tries to do more or less the exact same thing. Of course that failed as well and the Government sold the land at a loss - they had bought it when prices peaked and sold it after the pandemic price slump.

Well it is specifically Melbourne voters. Outside of Melbourne exist the most conservative voting cohorts in the entire country. It's something approaching 70% percent against Labor and even higher again in certain areas.

Melbourne was good except for the cold and rainy in winter and Perth was good too but everything is spread out. Brisbane used to have cheap clothing outlets, could find cheap food. I miss the fruit vendors selling fruit and ice cold can drinks.
