One train can carry 1000 people and it is better if the train runs by solar power source. It’s less polluted than using 1000 cars. From suburbs to the city by trains, it is faster and more economic, parking in the CBD is too expensive. It is more convenient to take the train to the airport, rather than parking the car at the airport for weeks when travelling. These are my views😊😊😊.

Hay just discovered your Vids today. There was a link on reddit. As an ex melb metro train worker (guard on hitachi and commeng. Even drove a blue train once). I found your vids to be well researched and excellent in their content. I went back to the start of your vids for an bit of a tour through your clips on melbs train history and lines. It's been fun to watch you grow up and get better at making good videos. Yes your voice has been getting deeper as you go along. (But you know this) How about discussing how train signaling works and "the safe working system". Is all of melb metro 3 position automatic signals? They used to use loop and staff on some sections. This is another interesting aspect of trains and their operations and melb metro definely has a history of safe working signaling systems. How about how the metro control system is operated now from a control centre. Thanks for doing these vids, they're great and I think your doing a fantastic job as a presenter. Even quite funny in parts. So keep it up Mr Train Man. 10/10.

@andyrob32593 жыл бұрын
@@krisdevalle no. It was a shortsighted cost decision. One that will be regretted immensely for so many reasons and in many ways destroys the integrity of the central problem of the railways in Melbourne, far too linear and requires going into the city to transfer. Do like any other underground system - use the same name and join with tunnels (as they are actually doing) and treat as one interchange station

@@TheFinalMinutes there wouldn’t be any disruption more than what’s happening now given the station would be underground and just require a new surface building on the opposite side of the bridge/Sth Yarra station to exit the escalators/lifts. You asked for ideas for stories? About 20 years ago I was catching the train to Sydney from I think it was southern cross station. I might be wrong about that! Someone told me to look at some track there, as there were 2 or even 3 guages together, which made the points and track incredibly complicated. It was incredible to see it. Is it still there? Even if it is not in use. The problems and issues of multiple guages, and I am sure that there would be some, would be an interesting story.

Any chance of a video on lines that were proposed, or proposed stations, but historically were abandoned before construction?

That is a fascinating idea Nathan, would you say something like the Doncaster Line is what you have in mind? If so, for sure!

I wonder if they are ahead of schedule. If all tunneling is complete by the end of the year will it really take 3 years to complete the stations

I drive past South Yarra, and they're already showing "Werribee" instead of Flinders Street for some trains.

Yeah the signage has switched over to Werribee and Williamstown now. Also lines up with the new trains on the Packenham line.

And there will be a new raised platform tram stop there, too.

@@petergoodvibes You're right! They're just about to start building the new stop. The foyer of SY station is halfway through being remodelled and the whole works should make it a bit safer getting in and out of the station. Still there should have been another platform at the station for the new metro line - seems like a complete waste not to have one - it would take a lot of pressure off the 58 tram in peak time.
@the_train_man3 жыл бұрын
Interesting to see you mention a new platform at SY. I would agree that is a great idea, however, the Pakenham, and Cranbourne lines will be bypassing SY when the metro tunnel is completed, meaning the patronage of the station will decrease quite a fair bit :)

@@the_train_man Yes that's my thought - its going to become a gigantic pain in the bum to get Pakenham and Cranbourne line trains when the metro kicks off. Yes it would cost a bomb to extend SY station, but I think at some point in the future they'll have to do it anyway - best to get it out of the way early.
