It’s great to see these old ladies still on the tracks. Drove these for 8 years from the Malvern depot during the mid 80s and early 90s. Loved every bit of it. 😊

I lived in Melbourne for a short while way back in 1967 and used to travel to work from Wattle Park on route 70. I recall the trams had no doors with just a pull down metal rod to "close" the entrance/exit not in use. If my memory serves me right, there was a canvas blind that was rolled down in wet weather. I also recall the seats being wooden and an internal door to separate the front and rear "cabin" of the tram from the entrance area. Happy memories.

All good memories mate and when the blind wasn't down, there was a bar across the door to stop people from falling out.

Gosh that takes me back. Back in the early 80s I used to catch the number 3 to and from work - looking just like that

MOTAT has a W2 321, a W7 1032, and former NSW government tramway steam locomotive 100.

Correct. 1032 doesn't look like it will run again and will be uses for spares

4:50 Hang on! Doesn't the tramway in Victoria run on *standard gauge* the same as that of NSW railways? The width between the common rail and the inner of the two rails looks (to me) to be standard gauge, which would make the outer rail *broad gauge!* Yet I saw that tram running on the common + outer rail!

@neilforbes416 Melbourne Tram Gauge 1,435 mm (4 ft 8+1⁄2 in)
@paulfharris175 Жыл бұрын
Wellington Tram gauge is 4ft hence the second rail Auckland and Melbourne are 4ft 8 1/2 Wellington had the narrow gauge as the streets are narrower than Auckland and Melbourne I hope that this removes all confusion

The *Museum of Transport & Technology* initials could've been reduced to *MTT.* The 'O' represented 'Of" and the 'A' represented "And". "And", "Of" and "The" are *totally superfluous* in corporate and institutional names when reduced to initials. A prime example is our airline which should be simply *QNTAS* or *Q/NTAS,* the first 'A' cut out as it only stood for "and".
@top40researcher31 Жыл бұрын
@neilforbes416 it's actually *QANTAS* you left out the letter *A*
