Topic: Getting off gas
Presenters: Rob Brown and Stephen Zuluaga
Fossil gas, previously referred to as Natural Gas, was once a cheap, plentiful fuel and was adopted enthusiastically by most Victorians for heating and cooking needs after discovery of off-shore gas resources in Bass Strait. It has supplied low cost fuel for Victorians for several decades but now is increasingly hard to source, is becoming expensive and the effects on the environment and climate can no longer be ignored.
The move away from gas has now become urgent and is being encouraged by governments and the environmentally conscious but for many people it is an expensive and optional consideration.
What are the pros and cons of making the change?
Stephen Zuluaga and Rob Brown discuss a case study of Rob’s house build from 2014 where energy decisions were taken with these concerns in mind. House design features and choice of appliances that reduced energy consumption and emissions will be discussed.
