The Septuagint, which Christ himself used over the masoretic text, adds 100 yrs to each generation. According to that timeline, Shem died before his own son. Moreover the masoretic allowing Shem to be conflated with melchizedek makes it so Christ, who’s from judah, could never be high priest. The order of melchizedek, according to Hebrew’s writer, is higher than Jewish priesthood, and makes it so Christ need not be from Levi. The apostles also unmistakably quote the Septuagint many times showing that we as Christians should be using the Greek Septuagint to interpret the OT. It make much more sense of the Bible as a whole

But Shem had a mom and dad!! I read in one of the sacred books, something I think make a lot of sense! I don't recall if Shem took one of his nephews, or if Japheth took one of his nephews, at a very young age, and took Adams remains up to a mountain, where the boy had to stay and keep a fire burning on an alter continually (had to stay there the whole time). Then the son of Noah told everyone a bear killed the boy, hence the boy grew up with no parents and was obedient and stayed on the mountain and the boy was Melchizedek.

Birth/death/geneology record in Hebrews is referring to the Melchizedekian priesthood verses the Aaronic priesthood. To be an Aaronic priest you have to be descended from Levi and you started training at 20 became a priest at 30 and there was a mandatory retirement at 50. No such requirements for a Melchizedekian priest. Paul was showing one of the many ways that Jesus was superior. There were several Melchizedekian priests. Shem (Noah’s son) was the one who blessed Abraham. Jesus is the last because he will never die and there is no mandatory retirement for a Melchizedekian priest.

Melchizedek is not a name but a title - Melchi or Melek is King and Zedek is righteousness- God established this as a precedent and for the ruler ship of Messiah - the Kings and Priests were to be seperate and we are told the Messiah would come from Judah not Levi - he is a foreshadow of Messiah and the establishment of type. The focus is on Yeshua NOT who Melchizedek was - if God wanted us to know for sure he would have told us.

Melchizedek was the priest of the most high God. Notice that it says “the” priest of the most high God not “a” priest of the most high God. Heb 7:3* Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but “made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.” The end of verse eight it states that “of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.” Melchizedek was not a man but an heavenly Angel. The fact that he was made, not born, and that he was without mother, also meant that he was without a human Father and that “he yet liveth” means he is still alive today. “made like unto the Son of God;” proves that he is not the Son of God. The fact that he was “king of Salem” and “brought forth bread and wine” meant that he was king of the heavenly Salem, not the earthly Jerusalem. Who do you think the seraphim was who flew to Isaiah and touched his lips with the coal from off the altar in heaven. Isa 6:6* “Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: 7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.” Melchizedek is the heavenly priest of the most high God in heaven. Jesus is the most high priest of heaven and earth and under the earth. In other words, Jesus is a high priest over Melchizedek. Jesus, the Son of God, is king of kings and lord of lords over all the kings and lords, both in heaven and earth, and under the earth.

Melchisedek was a Priest by oath (word) not by decedents like the Levi(priesthood family).The Priesthood didnt pass from father to son when he died, but was a priest until he died, the Priest would pass the blessing to whom ever was qualified to do the Priesthood and to be a king, or ruler.Not by Family decedent (Father or mother).

Melchizedek was NOT Shem. The Masoretic Text is corrupt. The ages given in the genealogy of Abraham in the masoretic text are wrong. Shem was dead 500 years before Abraham. Melchizedek is JESUS CHRIST. When Jesus came in the flesh, he was descended from the Order of Melchizedek. Melchizedek said the he was the King of Salem (Salem in Hebrew means peace...it's not a place.) Melchizedek offered Abraham bread and wine, Abraham took communion. Melchizedek was the Priest of the Most High God......He is Jesus. You studied the Masoretic Text and got it wrong. Look at the more accurate Septuagint which are the Scriptures that Jesus and the Apostles used. That timeline you gave is absolutely wrong.

His name is more of a title than a personal reference. It comes from two Hebrew words melek means “king” and tsedeq means “righteousness”. Heb 7:1 for this Melchizedek, King of Salem, priest of God Most High, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, Heb 7:2 to whom also Abraham divided a tenth part of all. Being first, by interpretation, King of righteousness, and then also King of Salem, which is King of peace; An interesting word is Salem, is the Greek transliteration (is the conversion of a text from one script to another) from the Hebrew. We need to mention that a transliteration is NOT a translation. We know that Salem means “peace”, but the translation in Greek for the word “peace” is “εἰρήνη eirene”, that also is mentioned at the end of the verse. So, we need to ask the question: Why Paul needed to mention this word “Salem” to the Hebrews in its original language? The words: “King of Israel” is one of the titles related to the Messiah. We know that the Bible says “King of Salem” Salem was a place that later was known as Jerusalem, and did not say Israel. But we need to mention that this expression is a Jewish’s figure of speech called “Synecdoche”, is when they mentioned a part of something but the whole is meant. Let’s talk now about the attributes of this king in verse 7:2 It mentioned that He is the King of righteousness and King of peace where the words “righteousness” and the word “peace” are in the Greek grammar called Genitive Case. The Genitive case in Greek can be as showing “possession”. Instead of adding an “apostrophe s” or using “of”, the Genitive case letters-endings are added to the word. This is the way to recognize which case we are talking about in Greek grammar. Also can show “relationship” like “son of David”, “attributive” like “King of righteousness”. In this case we are talking on the “attributive” form. The word, in this case is being used as an adjective, describing an attribute or quality to the head noun. (1) The words “King” are the nouns and the words “righteousness” and “grace” are used as the adjective. The Genitive always tells us the origin and qualifies at the same time. So in the expressions: King of righteousness and King of grace are NOT saying that there was a place called “righteousness” or a place called “grace” where He was the King. What is really saying is that the righteousness and the grace were originated in this King. That this King was the fountain of righteousness and Grace. God is the only origin of the righteousness and the grace, Jesus is God

Prior to the Flood, Noah had been the youngest of a long line of Patriarchal contemporaries. After Noah died, Shem was left alone in having to pass the Patriarchal duty to as far into the future as he could. Shem then lived in a world run by what essentially were street gangs: worldly and arrogant. They could not deny their sense that Shem was biologically superior to them. So they mocked his Evangelistic dedication, calling him 'king' of 'righteousness'. The data is all there, from Genesis 1:1 onwards.

if the order started with adam, then it should have been referred to as "in the order of adam" not in the order of melchizedek. i believe the priesthood of melchizedek was an order created distinct from the order of the levitical priesthood which did not confer kingship. the old covenant of god with israel was to create a kingdom of priests and kings, not kingly priests nor priestly kings. this was what melchizedek was, he was a king while at the same time priest. the new covenant has the order of melchizedek, the order of our lord and savior jesus christ, as he is king and at the same time priest.

The Order of Melchizedek information that I possess is not found in the bible. For further info one needs God to help him with it. I will start the story after the flood. Noah after the flood eventually migrated back with his family to a place nearly where the Holy City of Zion used to stand. There he founded the City of Salem. Noah became the king and Shem the son became the Prince of Salem or prince of Peace. .....Now eventually the people of Salem fell into wickedness. Shem eventually became king of Salem after Noah retired to serve God in the temple. So Shem began to preach to the inhabitants and showed them how to attain Righteousness. The trials of Shem perfected him in Righteousness and eventually he brought the people back to God. On a note here, Salem is the second witness that it is possible to become perfected as our Father in heaven is perfect. And it 's inhabitants were taken to heaven without having to go via the grave. Shem in honor of the mighty works done to God was given a NEW NAME....and called Melchizedek. God called his priesthood Melchizedek....which means "My King is Righteousness" (of God). Before that the Priesthood was called the Holy Order of God by the Patriarchs. The Melchizedek Priesthood is the higher priesthood dealing with Spiritual matters whereas the Priesthood of Aaron dealt with Worldly ordinances such as Water Baptism, and other outerward ordinances. This Priesthood was given by the laying of hands. And more than one individual can receive this priesthood. Every prophet who made mighty works had this priesthood. Before Shem it was Noah who by ordinance called the rain, and limited the suffering of Christ on the amount of sin. By calling rain, the bitter cup was limited and so put a limit to the spiritual suffering of Christ. Since Shem was King of Salem (Peace) So it was that Melchizedek was king of Salem....also this priesthood is eternal having no father or mother. When speaking of Melchizedek as the person we are speaking of Shem before he receive the new name. There are three gifts one receives upon being on the road to perfection...there are given in the book of Revelation.....1. New name....2. White stone (URIM) 3. Hidden MAnna. The hidden manna is not written down and is given to those who are perfect......Paul....Howbeit we SPEAK wisdom among them that are perfect yet not the wisdom of this world. That is all I have to say on this. Oh yeah the Urim is for finding out the will of God in any given circumstances, and for receiving information for our mission and it comes with a warning to not look for anything that we are suppose to look for since some knowledge would be dangerous for us to possess.

John 8:48-59 Jesus said to the descendants of Abraham he had seen and spoken to their father Abraham. When did this occur? Right after Abraham had rescued his brother and nephew Lot. Melchisedech, has no beginning and or end, he is the only one true most high priest. Jesus was Melchisedech who was God in the flesh. Christ risen from the dead became the ( Great High Priest ) his Temple is in every man woman and child the body. we are the priests of that Temple after the Priestley order of Melchizedek. Melchizedek is a snapshot of the born-again Christian, having no father for the birth no mother no beginning and no end. a priest abiding forever. Zechariah 3 is also the born-again Christian snapshot Joshua Christ and Satan present in our Temple we are the Joshua of the Temple the filthy garments are the blood of Christ on our Priestly garments. the altar of that Temple is the conscious mind. nowhere in the Old Testament do you find the word conscience. it becomes the altar, the Fruit of the Spirit being our sacrifices daily. in contrast with the reprobate mind.

Okay I found this topic to be Most intriguing considering the Non Masoretic Text and the Greek Septuagint the Sumerian Pentateuch and also Josephus that the now King James Version Altered the Years of of the time line of genealogy a 100 years. instead of procreating at 32 or 35 they were procreating at 132 or 135, I think they did this on purpose. If you go by the genealogy chart from the Masoretic text which is not the original Hebrew then Shem would have out lived all his grand children, The Jews claim he is Shem because most high priests come from the tribe of levy and Jesus was of Judah, So if Melchizedek was Shem than that would mean that Melchizedek was not a high priest who in the book of "Hebrews" made Jesus the high priest and because of the faith in Jesus we become Priests as well..

Jesus was kept secret since the foundation of the earth. Melchizedek died, and was a mortal man. He was not God, nor was he the Holy Spirit, and definitely not Jesus. There was only one begotten son of God, not 2 or more. Having no father or mother, would not make him related to God, however, this was right after the flood where both his mother and father died in it. Everyone has a mother and a father at some point, or else they would not exist. Only God has no mother or father, but God is a spirit and Melchizedek was a priest for God, not as God. Melchizedek, was a human priest, and nothing more. Abraham gave money, this is not something you do to a spirit unless you are worshiping it. Wake up people, because what you're doing is spirit worshiping, demonism.

it even says in the Old Testament that if a stranger comes in your land and wishes to obey your God, then you can circumcise them and he will be one of you. So to say the true Israelites versus people trying to get into claim they are true Israelites, well, when you believe in the god of Israel and you are circumcised, the Bible says you are part of the Jewish people. tadesse hailu what about in 2nd Peter 2:5, where it says Noah was the eighth, a preacher of righteousness. He was the 10th in the generations, but 8th as far as being the high priest. So, if the high priest or the king of righteousness, which would be the Melchizedek, without birth records are genealogy and having no end, that refers to the title and a person holding that title, not necessarily the person's name and their own genealogy. Just an idea about how the text reads. Because the Melchizedek is explained to us in the Bible as being king of righteousness and he was also king of Salem , king of peace. So the Bible itself tells us that Melchizedek is the title, and not somebody's name. And if God is the most high, Adam was made of God and therefore there would be no genealogy for the title of the high priest or king of righteousness which would be the Melchizedek. In fact Jesus became high priest in the order of Melchizedek, which also tells us again that Melchizedek is a title and not a person's name. course Jesus is the last high priest because he was the one that came without sin and instead of sacrificing the blood of lambs and goats, he was sacrificed. A title could be without father and mother or genealogy or death or birth because it came from God through Adam and only came to specific people because Noah was 8th when he was the 10th in his Generations.

It is Biblically impossible for Shem to be Melchizedek. In Genesis 11, in the Septuagint, the Bible used during the time of Jesus and the time of the Apostles, Shem dies long before the birth of Abraham. You are quoting the genealogical records from the Masoretic text Bible that is drastically different from the Septuagint Bible. The Masoretic text was written hundreds of years later and many verses were changed and twisted by rabbis to most likely make it look like Jesus is not the Messiah. -In Hebrews 7, it says Melchizedek had "Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually." i do have come to understand and believe from what i found in scriptures that melchizedek was shem. it is common in scriptures to change the name of an individual to reflect a change in him: abram to abraham, jacob to israel, saul to paul etc. i can understand that after the flood, shem's family grew and he became then a patriarch of a family that grew to be populous to inhabit a city.

blessings be to you for pointing out that understanding of god's word comes from god and not from mere work of human reasoning. this is what we find david praying for in his psalms. the blessing that noah gave shem is a generational blessing, a blessing given by the father to his son/s. the blessing melchizedek gave to abraham was not. scriptures do not mention why melchizedek blessed abraham which elicited abraham's tithe giving response. it could be that because of the miraculous victory, melchizedek discerned or was told by god that it was due to abraham's faith in god and he was commending abraham for his faithfulness to the god of most high.

I'm last of if not the last of the 12 Melchizedek's. He was originally the son of NIR which was Noah's brother. His mother conceived like Mary did Christ Nir rebuked her in her old age and being close to death she died and after gave birth (being dead) Mel came out size of a three year old and sat on the corner of the bed next to dead mother.. A correct beginning is a prerequisite. This gentle man has some problems with Bible chronology. From the Flood to Terah, Abram's father. there are 222 years. Abram was born when Terah was 130 years old , not 70 years old. Otherwise how do you reconcile Gen 11:26 with Gen 12:4 ??!! So from the Flood when Shem was 98 years old to the birth of Abram we get 352 years. Then we add 75 years- the age at which Abram entered Canaan which totals 427 years from the Flood. Then we add 430 years till the Exodus and then 479 to find the year of the beginning of Solomon's temple because it started in the 480th year of the Exodus and continued for another 7 1/2 years. Add together the years from Creation to the Flood 1656 +222 + 130 +75 +430 +479 +7 1/2 and we get the year 2999 1/2 i.e the year 3000 in which Solomon dedicated the Great Temple which symbolized the body of our LORD JESUS CHRIST.

This was Satan plot to pollute the genealogy of Jesus. Arphaxad, not knowing about the affair, let Canaan into their dwellings and his wife gave birth to Selah. Thinking Selah was his son, Canaan raised Selah and became his servant, also. He gave his inheritance, the land Canaan to Selah. This is the reason why Yahweh told Abraham to go to Canaan to claim the land which belongs to Melchizedek or Canaan but was given to Selah. But this is Ham’s land but was transferred to Selah. Just like the Gospel of Mark, Jesus got no genealogy because he was considered as a servant. Canaan got no father or mother because he was a slave or a servant to the son of Arphaxad but he loved Selah as his own son. He had given his inheritance Canaan to his own grand grandson, Abraham. Before 70 AD, the Jews knew the imminent fall of Jerusalem and they went back to their inheritance, Southern Africa and their Semite brothers, Arabia and Asia. Shem was #11 from Able as a man. Enoch was #7. Eber was #14 who out lived Abraham by 4 years. None of his family remained. Isaac was #21 died after Eber died. So if Cain killed Able on 6067. Sword of the LORD From the Book of Enoch! Technically, Melchizedek came from Noah's brother's (Nir) wife Sopanim. Nir came from being away for a time and found her with child. She was not unfaithful, but when Nir attempted to cast her away, she dropped to her death in front of Nir. He thought it was because of him that she had died, but the Arch Angel Gabriel told him that was not the case and that the child would be taken to paradise so that he wouldn't be the father of the gift of The Most High. He went to go tell Noah what happened, and at that time Melchizedek was still in Sopanim's womb. They had wrapped her with black garments, and went out to dig her a grave. Noah assured Nir that with her passing, they wouldn't have to deal with the scandal of people thinking she was unfaithful. When they went back in to get the body, Melchizedek had been out of her womb, cleaning his clothes and sitting on the bed beside her praising The Most High with his badge of priesthood on his chest. Then Noah proclaimed that the child was of The Most High! They cleaned, washed and dressed the child in his priestly clothes and then named him Melchizedek. Also, they ended up chaining the garments they were going to bury Sopanim in into bright garments and buried her publicly. Nir took care of Melchizedek until the time Gabriel had to take him away into Eden. The flood had to come, and he was not to perish with the rest.
