Aloha! Yes, you are amazing. I attended your workshops at the Reno Uke Festival several years ago. You were very patient with the folks who wanted to better themselves with the Hawaiian strumming. You were so patient. I am glad you are bringing He Mele Aloha Ukulele series to KZbin. I think every ukulele jam sessions should have at least one Hawaiian song in it for the respect of the ukulele. Mahlo/thank you for posting this on KZbin so we could always return to it on our own time. Best wishes for your new project.

This is an incredible series, just what I needed. Grew up around Hawaiian music and lived there for 30 years, played for a living but only guitar and vocals, never learned uke. After being on the mainland for years I have forgotten a lot of songs, plus you do ones I always wanted to learn. Bought a uke recently so this is so perfect. Must say, your voice on I Kona knocks me out and takes me home. Mahalo nui loa.

@StevenEspaniola5 жыл бұрын
Aloha, definitely will take time. It is a very syncopated strum and your mind just needs to separate what is going on with the strum and the vocals. This strum is also not falling on the typical downbeats so just needs to familiarize. It'll happen, don't give up ;)

Another great lesson/rendition. Have you ever played/heard the Kanile'a Oha range of Ukes? While I would love a "true" Kanile'a, the Oha range is made in Hawaii and has a Koa top(I love Koa) yet much cheaper!
@StevenEspaniola5 жыл бұрын

@@StevenEspaniola Oh yeah, what is your new uke? You had a great video about your original Kanile'a Custom, but you have a new one. If you could do a video on what version it is, if there is anything new that you like about it more/different then your original, and also what pickup are you using?

@@StevenEspaniola Awesome, my bad! I thought I remembered an unboxing, but guess I got stumped by your 17 second video of your "new instrument" while looking last night. What is the 2 mic pickup they included?
@StevenEspaniola5 жыл бұрын
@@ZackUribe_com The "Double" pickup is just the name of the company that makes the pickup doesn't have 2 mics. It is a decent sounding pickup though with an under saddle piezo. I may upgrade to an LR Baggs Element which is what I have in my other custom ;)

Seriously, I can’t tell you enough how, since meeting you at MUD9, you just seem like a great person for this genre! And your voice shines on this song. And it’s so needed!!!!!!! Thank you for taking this on. I’m sure it’s a lot of work. I have told my whole ukulele club and I’ll continue to share your channel and name with anyone who shows interest in Hawaiian! 🌺 I appreciate the strum added. It makes it harder but- it will be worth it. 🙏🏻 If it gets hard for you, one a week might bypass some (well my) practice schedule and abilities. But I’m glad they will be coming! (Cynthia Lin taught this one- so at least I’ll be able to speak some of it because I practiced a lot! But you’ve added your voice and a great strum! So there’s more to learn!) 👏🏻👏🏻
