Hax has been the biggest arbiter of modern advancements in melee, and has continually managed to push the envelope of our communities development more than anyone has even attempted in recent memory - despite seemingly innumerous hurdles he has, and continues to overcome. I really hope that the community at large can come to - if not reintegrate - at the very least consider the innovations this man has been making in order to make our game the best it can possibly be

@@lydiawilder5996 I'm sorry but what he did was not unforgivable or even ""that big of a deal"", IMO. Not good, yes, but if we start banning people from every community for everything we don't like, then we start banning Mang0 for being a bad influence on teens with his heavy drinking and drug usage, we ban someone for making an edgy joke, we ban all the players that used ""the R word"" in the past (and toooons of the best players did) -- we have to forgive and move on. Next thing you know, everyone in the community is bland and lacking personality because they're afraid to get banned for a person or group of people not liking something they said or did. Short term suspensions are fine, but permanent exiles from a community over something (short of illegal behavior like certain players..) and not forgiving is just toxic and controlling behavior.

1.03 is great it takes the 500-dollar controller market and shits all over it. i love n3z and gooms goomy and so on but for people who are just getting in to the game this makes it so much better. if using slippy you can use a xbox or PlayStation controller and have it be as good as a goomwave. also why is a pcb with nothing installed 150. highway robbery..

I would love to see this become the mainstream in competitive melee. Change is necessary if the scene wants more top players, and refusing any improvement of the game itself only makes it age worse.

Would love to be able to swap Z to B and X/Y to Z in order to perform ICs priority desyncs (inputting 2 moves on the same frame like C-stick up + down + B to u-air + blizzard which effectively is an unblockable as the shield stun traps the opponent in shield and can then be grabbed) more consistently without requiring claw grip or a BoXX controller

It’s a shame *Perfect Angles* probably won’t eventually go mainstream anymore directly because of this. (A big win for notchers everywhere). I think Hax has the wrong people in his ear… or rather the people he’s hearing from are disproportionately more established players.

sad about the removal for turning tap jump off and tilt stick :( it would make the game much more accessible for new players who might not play because of melees weird and uncomfortable controls

why was tap jump and wavedash angles removed? I can see the argument against the c stick tilt options. But perfect WD angles helps remove the need for a modded controller with notches that wears down, and tap jump should obviously be an option. just seems like everyone benefits from these additions idk

tbh I don't see turning off tap jump ever being accepted by our community. It's important that you incur risk of tap jumping when doing things like up B or up tilt, else things like Up B while preserving jump or pivot uptilting becomes free

the current meta is balanced around tap jump existing, removing it is a straight up balance change. For example every time you sdi up you risk jumping, so a common mix up is waiting to attack to bait the sdi, then hitting them right after they double jump for a big combo

It feels like Nintendo is going down on mods and content creators more recently (P+ vods, random smash content being indiscriminately taken down) I wonder if Nintendo “partnered” events in the future would accept 1.03 if our community did, or if the mod needed to be more stealthy and cut down on stage mods More than community prejudice, the logistical component somewhat concerns me though I’m probably wrong about all that My locals are already using 1.03 and it plays pretty good, there needs to be some change at the very least

I think the name is super duuuuumb. Hax should change the name. 1.03... the name implies a huge ego since it's literally playing off of the version code of vanilla melee itself (1.02). And I understand the reason he wants to name it that way... its because he sees it as the future version of melee, and thus, it should be named in accordance to the original melee version code... but I digress...it just seems dumb and ego-ish... and i actually like hax and what he does...but for the average hax hater, the name just makes the project all the more worse sounding and less appealing. Also I think removing shy guys and Dreamland wind is super controversial and questionable...and its holding the project back to push that as standard...it's okay to leave it as toggleable but it shouldn't be pushed as the standard. That should just be left for the TOs to decide!!!!!! My passionite thoughts, imho.

im a casual melee enjoyer, why the options from Legacy not on Tournament ? Why i cant have the latency toggle on my wii ?all it lets me choose is Z as jump swap.

The competitive scene is extremely protective of the game state and want to modify it very little, even if it's horrifically flawed. I don't think that's really a negative thing. But everything in the game is built on exploiting the way this game works. If you accept control over the game state itself you start to make changes which have cascading effects, which actually matter at such a high competitive level. In short, hax wants to make a version people will accept, people have several criticisms which regardless of your opinion on, are the wider opinion of the community, and so hax decided to remove the options in line with that feedback.

All the LGL does in 1.03 is create a winner IN TIMEOUTS ONLY. I get why LGL exists and also think that it’s dumb, but since LGL only ever comes up in timeouts, idk why you wouldn’t support 1.03 because of it.

No, only the legacy version. Competitive play was against using this function for balance reasons, same as tilt stick and perfect angles.

I don’t think there’s a patched iso available, you have to patch it yourself. Finding a vanilla iso shouldn’t be hard. Instructions and patch download are on hax’s site. It doesn’t say how to patch if you’re on a mac, but in the case that you are just use the multipatch application. I stumbled through this process and it’s running on my Wii as an iso perfectly now!
