Thank you! This video feeds my tank addiction. I have resealed a few tanks in the past, but by watching the professionals do it, makes this video the go to source for information. I know you are excited about your new tank. It's a jewel of craftsmanship. Thanks to Planet Aquarium for allowing you to create this video.

Awesome Tour! Amazing place. Glad to see some of the original people from Oceanic. I'm Running a 58 gallon Oceanic Reef Ready that has been going for 30 years this October. What else can I say besides great quality tanks. I'm sure Planet are just as GREAT after seeing what goes into them. Thanks for sharing.

Finishing the sump and separate fuge that is fed from a different overflow. All flow into the sump and then pumped back up into the tank. Been busy remodeling rooms for all my children, and taking care of the 4 foster kids we have. The tank has taken a bit of a back seat to that. 😩

I am surprised how thin and "light" those stands are. When I was building a stand for my 96" long tank, all places I checked suggested I should use 2x8 and put a lot of braces and by doing that I lost so much space inside the stand. It really limits the equipment selection. I don't know why DIY folks overkill things so much but since I am not a structural engineer I followed. Thanks for the tour!
@melevsreef2 жыл бұрын
It’s remarkable, right. We tend to overbuild our own stands. My new tank will have a plywood stand, and it will still be a bit beefier than what you saw in this video. My 400g reef has a steel stand beneath it. It’s made of 1/4” thick 2” square tubing. It was welded together 11 years ago and still in use.
@siggyincr7447 Жыл бұрын
DIYers overbuild because for the most part they don't know how to do the math and the cost of 2x lumber is still cheap in comparison to what a collapsed stand would cost.

I wish they’d make a plumbing system that’s easy to hook up like the Waterbox Infinia line which has a pre built stand and plug and play plumbing. I’m looking to swap my current tank but it’s in the spot of where I’m planning my new tank. Don’t want my fish and corals in bins for more than a couple hours and with having to cut and plum everything and test for leaks it’d take too long compared to plug and play so to speak. But I do wish I could have more space so I could do everything I just said! Their quality is really impressive!
@melevsreef2 жыл бұрын
I get it. When I plumb in a new tank, it can take me 8 hours or longer to build the plumbing. Plus I prefer cure time to let it dry before I add water. Ideally, you could set up the new system temporarily to take your time, let it dry, then water test it. Then break it down, so it’s ready for your quick install idea. Unions for disconnects would give you plug & play plumbing connections.
