I just now booked this hotel and I believe I got the same suite type that you stayed in. Can you provide some info on the spa deal that it's included. I was told that we would get a daily pass which includes a daily massage. Is that the case? Their website and the Rep I spoke with wasn't helpful. Also, do you have any advice, warnings and great advice?? TIA :)

Hi! If you book for at least 5 days, they say that you get a half hour massage all days except your check in and check out days. I have seen numerous comments about how that does not actually happen. It didn't happen for us either. We should have had 6 half hour massages (or treatments). We ended up scheduling 3 one hour time slots. When we arrived, they did not have any times available for the next day. Book your appointments as early in your trip as possible to get what you want. I actually preferred not having to run to the spa every day and the one hour session was sooo worth it. Also, I see others commenting that they were told there was no appointment available, but then a paying customer would be able to book one. I think this is a scam they run because it is not like we haven't paid for the massages, they are included in our more expensive price. My advice would be to join the Facebook group for Melia Punta Cana. It is not run by Melia :)

No, you are not supposed to. We did go to the casino and we watched their lobby show one night.

do they charge your credit card at check in ?any holds?

Initially we booked our trip, they did not charge our card and we had the option to cancel with no charge just 3 days out from arrival. We ended up having to cancel so I was very happy with this option. When I went to rebook the trip a month and a half later, the same option was no longer available. We paid in full at booking. This was actually a relief to me because I wasn't sure what kind of charges would be incurred when we used the credit card outside of the USA. When we made purchases on our card for souvenirs, there was a small fee for use.

I thought this hotel was adults only?

Yes, Melia Punta Cana is Adults Only. Right next to it is Melia Caribe which is for families. They used to be connected until last fall when they officially separated the 2. You can still see children walking on the beach sometimes, but there should never be children in this resort area.
