Excellent as always! The reuse of the piano cords at the forge is killer evidence. Melina is her own character, but she’s her own character in that her identity and her actions are so interwoven with her mother’s identity. For me, it’s hard for me to think of Marika without considering Melina’s personality, and I have been teetering on a “Demigod Horcrux” idea for some time. Melina sharing those same piano cords really cements that connection for me. Hearing it at the forge evokes the same emotion as Shaman Village does. The Forge is where Melina makes the ultimate sacrifice and says goodbye to her friend, the Tarnished. Melina’s true identity is kindness, without Order, and is probably my favorite character. Great video as always!

I think people have ignored the significance of Hair Colour. Marika now has 4 children who appear to be the product of her own hermaphroditic fertilization with red-haired Radagon. Miquella (Blond) Malenia(Red) Messmer(Red) Melina(Red) Radagon has 3 kids without Marika: Ranni (Red) Rykard (Red) Radahn(Red) GRRM: the Seed is strong, baby! Radagon only has Red Haired kids! Wonderfully made- a great official out loud refute. Before the DLC at one point I had thought of them as the same person, if only in a somewhat different way, the when i played the DLC and found out they werent it didnt impact my overall view much at aaalllll, just made me squirm like a worm over timelines given mesmers position in siblinghood with the others...(that im pretty sure i have worked out by this point haha) Having mesmer confirmed as the Fire (maiden huehuehue) / kindling for the dlc was a treat.

I appreciated that theory, not because I ever thought it was true or even likely, but because the lore community sometimes gets in a rut of believing its own fanon farts and propogating them as gospel. Fresh perspectives and lateral thinking can help rejuvenate discussion and open new paths of dialogue. In order to rebut theories, our own understanding of the game is refined and deepened, which is good! It did spawn some hilarious thumbails and theories pre-dlc though lol. Not in the story of Elden Ring but in the case of Melina, I disagree. The idea of Miquella is St. Trina is Melina waters her character down. She becomes the secret identity of a secret identity. It becomes less about her and more about Miquella. Take St Trina's dialogue for instance, she ONLY speaks about Miquella. She doesn't talk about anything else. The same is true with Millicent, her dialogue is centered around Malenia; where to find her, where she traveled, etc. Melina, on the other hand, speaks of her purpose, the Erdtree, her mother, the great forge, destined death, the frenzied flame, etc. I personally feel that IF Melina were St. Trina/Miquella, it would've been a disservice to her identity as a stand-alone character. Radagon being Marika ADDS to his character, Melina being Miquella takes away from hers. That’s my personal opinion.

That was a major issue that got Marika locked away. It even clearly states Malikath killed her and sealed away the rune. Messmer is born before all of that through Radagon. The evidence is both the red hair and the affliction. If Melina was simply born to be kindle that's her affliction. Being born burned and body less. If there was a corpse we would find it, like Rannis body.

it's not rude at all, but you've gotta remember two years ago is a broad amount of time. VERY few people were talking about it when I first made my video and it wasn't until after that I saw larger channels like Vaati and others mentioning it. The idea originally came from a comment on a different video from one of my long time subscribers and it's pretty much been 100% proven now by the DLC. Every idea comes from somewhere!

Nice video! One thing I've been thinking about is: almost all demigods seem to inherit the power of some deity, regardless of who their parents are. Two with one or two different serpents, one with a goddess who turned his blood into fire and so on. But, assuming Melina is also a demigod, her sealed eye reveals a different color at the end of the Frenzied Flame, and only one person briefly mentioned during the game has a different eye - the Gloam-Eyed Queen. From here, at least two paths open up for speculation: if Maliketh defeated the Gloam-Eyed Queen, could her power have been inherited by Melina at birth or she was another counterpart that Marika got rid of to achieve her goals (just like Miquella with Saint Trina)?

Yesterday I was fighting the Elden Beast and I thought to myself that what you see inside the beast is like a version of the Minot Eerdtree incantation but secluded and shapped within a massive glass/beast continer type monster. This, plus the description of the minor erdtree incantation, led me to believe that Melina represents the pure radiand kindess of gold, throught a pristine mother, Kindness that's yet to be obscured by the stablishment of order (cuold this be the father?). It is interesting that the simultaneous creation of Gold and Shadow applies to the birth of Marika's/Radagon's children as well. The Golden Miquella and the rot afflicted Malenia. The kind Melina and Mesmer the Impaler. The former used the flame to sacrifice herself for the greater good, the latter burned down cities to please his mother. Perhaps the Marika and Radagon pair also follows the same Gold/Shadow theme. Though, who stands for the Gold and who for the Shadow is difficult to say. Could "Gold without the Order" imply "Marika without Radagon?". Great work as always.

I love that idea! There's certainly a connection between this Shadow and Gold, Light and Dark element going on here. I think it does include Radagon and Marika, but which is which? Radagon is the Golden Order Fundamentalist, he believes in Order and upholds it until the end; even when we discover it's been wrong since the beginning. Ranni is a puppet being controlled by Miquella. Both have 4 arms Both are using the moon to ascend to godhood Both are depicted with three wolves. Miquellas statues have three wolves and Ranni is guarded by three wolves. Both separated their body and spirit. Both have people who follow them. Knight Loretta guards Ranis Rise and she also guards the Haligtree. Miquella is torrents former master and he can communicate with spirits. Ranni gives you the spirit calling bell but only after she learns that you have Torrent.

In hindsight I now believe that Ranni's appearance in the Church of Elleh, seemingly being able to put Kalé to sleep, and gifting a Spirit Calling Bell from "Torrent's former master" indicate that she was working on behalf of St. Trina there. I think that Torrent picked our Tarnished from the start because he knew we would be the one with the ability to resist Miquella's charms and destroy his plans for godhood before it's too late. St. Trina and Torrent could well have been collaborating on this goal.

I feel comfortable saying miquella is ranni because of torrent, the dark moon, and the dlc ending. I typically don't discredit Theories but that would have been a major reach. They are nothing alike. Almost as much as Melina being the gloom eyed queen. There just isn't anything in the game that even hints at that.

This is my least favorite elden ring theory of all time. It’s beyond silly. Close behind is “melina is the gloam eyed queen.” The timeline doesn’t support this and neither does the little peeks we get of the gloam eyed queen’s personality. Marika needed the death rune to establish the golden order, so for melina to be the gloam eyed queen, she would’ve had to have been born, established her kingdom of gloam, made her own demigods, and godskins, and skinned a bunch of babies to swaddle her godskins in. All before the golden order was established? Doesn’t seem likely. It’s possible that melina is marked by gloam or some other fire the same way Messmer is marked by the abyssal flame. And if messmer’s golden eye is a clue, it’s possible Melina’s golden eye is also a seal that fades in the frenzied flame ending. Releasing whatever she was cursed with.
