Regarding Nymphia's accent, is an extremly touchy subject. I can ASSURE YOU if Ru had said she loved Nymphias accent and found it funny, there would be a massive backlash now saying Ru supports stereotypes and mocking people's accents. I remember when Manila's decided to do the same accent and the judges loved it and found it funny and there was some kind of backlash saying Asians are more than a broken english accent and I remeber specially part of the Asian community saying they wanted people to stop doing that accent because all it was doing was perpetuating stereotypes, microagressions and racism. So I think Ru and the judges felt the necessity to just question if it was OK to laugh with Nymphia.

Doesn't matter if you're a king, queen, or thing... any drag artist can be judged on their charisma/uniqueness/nerve/&talent, tailor stunning looks for specific runway categories, be funny or good at acting or dancing or "being stupid". Kings deserve a seat at the * same * table :)

I respect both opinions expressed. Think the fear here is that a Drag King only competition show would take years to have the commercial success of Drag Race. So, to cut the line in world-wide notoriety, Drag Race _seems_ like the only option, but it isn't! Think a Drag King should jump through the same hoops as RuPaul and grind it out, even if it takes years. Build their own table instead of feeling entitled to a seat at a table that _literally_ was not built for them. Think that would feel way more iconic and earned.

Think Naysha's point here is that if they're retailering challenges to speak to both binaries, it's hard to meet in the middle and there needs to be a middle ground for fairness. It works if you throw away both femininity and masculinity and go gender neutral or non-specific. But you run the risk of losing the gender expression that makes both art forms social commentary and/or camp. It's easier to show the full spectrum of male entertainment if they had a show tailored specifically for them.

My two cents on snatch game- It's not entirely improvised. You choose your character. So you can prepare with some jokes. Then the improvisation is finding ways to get to those jokes. You know that Jinkx planned a lot of her Judy Garland bits in advance. She knew she was going to tell the Frank Sinatra Dean Martin joke ahead of time. And she knew some of the snatch game questions would be risque allowing her to segue into the joke. I'm sure she also planned what songs she was going to sing and how she was going to sing them. The reason queens fail at snatch game is because they think it's ALL improvisation and they don't PREPARE!

Oooooouu this take got me weeettttttt 😮💨🔥
@julie9129510 ай бұрын
YURP. Although I think sometimes they do prepare too much and then when they’re having a hard time applying the jokes to fit the situation, they started to freeze and not sure what to say and react in the moment bc they’re too in their head with the jokes they prepared. It’s a tough balancing act for sure.

im so happy melinda spoke about the accemt thing, as a fellow filipino, if shes making that accent for the ourpose of making you laugh, then laugh, you dont have to feel awkward about it, especially when the one doing it is an asian queen, theyre literally telling you taht it's fine and you can laugh about it, the only time uts gonna be racist, if the person doing it is purposely doing for the use of racism, or doing racist jokes, ESPECIALLY if they are not "asian" AND ALSO UGH YEI agree with naysha, i agree that they should be able to join normal drag race seasons AND I also agree that they should have theyre own platform, yes, some drag kings can join normal season and they would still feel comfortable presentating feminine, its like with what milk did, presenting "male", it became a conversation (i know theres a much more better example,its just the fastest one i can think of in the moment), thats because sexuality is anything,gender, what ever it is, but/and most drag kings are really about presenting masculine, its drag, its gonna be difficult when most challenges are centered around feminine, having theyre own platform on can make the conversation about theyre gender more loud i felt the awkwarness about this conversation when they are talking about it, its not really a one sided answer, i would love i drag kibg to be in a normal season of drag race, but i would also love if they had theyre own version of drag race thats like saying you only prefer Canadian drag queens on theyre seasons and you find it wierd that they are on the normal season, and vise versa again, its about the platform they can Finally ahve whether its them being in a normal or theyre own version

Hopefully this comment makes it to Naysha to help her understand Brooke's point. The argument Naysha is making is the same argument used against all queer folks in mainstream spaces. "You can do your art and prance around in dresses, but you are a boy and boys shouldn't wear dresses. So although you know who you are, and that's fine for you, I don't want my kid to see a boy in a dress". It all boils down to "Oh, you can exist but we don't want to see you in our space" We have to be better than that! Yes, we can include Drag Kings in the same competitions as Drag Queens and use common criteria to judge as fairly and equally as possible. Sure, some judges won't know how to apply criteria equally to both groups combined. But that already happens now on Drag Race franchises where 'ugly' drag or drag 'things' or gender 'F' is starting to break through. All change and inclusion is hard, but it is necessary. For everyone to become comfortable with each other we first have to be uncomfortable including those different from us.
