The season Ms. Doolittle was eliminated was the last season of idol for me. She was the best of the best. Phenomenal.

Clay Aiken should have (and may have) won, but the show runners reserved the right to change the outcome if it suited them; Elliot Yamin was a sensational vocalist and left after reaching the final 3; and then Melinda just blew them all away...and when they sent her home, it came to me that most of the audience voters were morons and would never pick the best singers.

She is one of the best Idol ever had and is one of, if not the most, underrated of all Idol contestants that actually went far. In fact she is the only Idol contestant that I think ever went through an entire season without being criticized by the judges. Her singing is effortless and it is a shame that she is not famous.

Her every performance was incredible, but this is absolutely my favorite. She interpreted this song to the max. Her performances were more on the order of an "event". With her professionalism she should have been called as a A.I. consultant for successive episodes to coach and mentor future contestants.

Every song she sang that season was just amazing! I wasn't born yet when Gladys Knight, Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin and the other great singers were on their prime, but seeing Melinda perform live, it's like watching a legend being born. Not just a star, but a legend among other legends that came before her. Maybe this is what it feels like to have been there at the time of the great vocalists.

Idol contestants back in the early shows were the real deal. These people could sing and emote emotion. Today its a bunch of kids trying to be adult singers. All singers from the top 10 for seasons 1-5 were giving soul emotion and true talent minus Sangha and a few others.
