To those talking about 'the original' singer, etc... If you pay attention, you'll hear her talking about 'The Rose', how she heard/watched over & over. The credit was given to Bette cus Bette is whom she was referring to having experienced the song being sung by. No other reason, no disrespect, just admiration of Bette's performance she had seen and lo end all those times, years ago.. .

I am sure that Melissa didn't mean to "irritate" anyone, and she surly meant no harm to Lorraine Ellison about this song. This song, however, is KNOWN as Bette's. She is the one that made it popular, it is because of her that the song is most known. So, no Lorraine didn't get the recognition, but that isn't really Melissa's fault. or anyone's but Lorraine's really.

@jbsky3 its really all personal taste, to be honest i love kiki dees version, much stronger and more emotional than this for me, she`s not taking the song seriously enough, not feeling it like bette or janis or kiki....just my humble opinion.

Not a bad song for her set...but both Kiki Dee's version and JJ's blow this away. IMO Kiki's is probably the best overall but I prefer Janis' because I like her style the most. Oh...and this song is NOT by Midler. It's Loraine Ellison ... but I think Melissa does better than Ms Ellison on this one.
