If the sweet corn gets old you can just feed it to the pigs. Between you, your sis, and mom, you all use gas. So you should buy one spare can so that if anyone runs out you can just swap it. Then you go refill the spare can. We like to keep eatra battles of water and a spare tank of gas around in case of hurricanes too. If we cannot get anything for a week ro two we have supplies this way. When you grill the corn you shoudl leave it in the husks. Cook it in the husks then peel and eat it. Corn originated from the America's. The native Americans called it maze. They have many types of corn. Yellow red purple multi-colored and much much more. The Spanish ones, British, and Portuguese distributed corn all over the world.
@KingRat71Ай бұрын
The Spanish also brough alot of native American troops from Mexico to PH to help with the conquest. Between the Spanish and the Mexican troops they brough chocolate, corn, and numerous other crops. This is also why so many PH local festival parades the costumes look alot like Native American costumes. They never took those tropps back to Mexico and just left them in PH to be absorbed into the local populations.

Feed corn and sweet corn are not the same. If they are growing it for the cows it is hard feed corn which can be processed for human food (to make oil or corn startch, etc.) but you cannot eat it straight off the cobb. You woudl destroy your teeth since it is too tough.

@@lakkanabutler1171 there is also popcorn which is a thrid type altogether. The bulk of corn grown in the world is “feed” corn since it can be fed to animals or processed to make oil, starch, meal, etc. And popcorn expanded in popularity during the great depression and is primarily eaten by Americans. And of course, most people like sweet corn.

Why don't you at least use harvest bags? I guess they can be described as a huge pocketbook type of thing. Pick the ear, put it in the bag. When the bag is full, then empty at a place for easy collection. As you are carrying the ears out in feedbags, you could attach a clamp-on shoulder strap. Then when bag is full, unclip strap, hook on a new bag and save a couple of steps in the process. Nice looking corn, by the way. That was one of my less favorite jobs on the farm growing up.

@milanice5730 ok, but that doesn't mean there might be an easier way. Picking corn by hand is not a fun day. Anything to make it easier is a good thing. It matters not be easier for you. We have flat ground here. But, it is a lot easier and quicker for everyone when we used bags to pick into.
