On my playthrough, the Scipii took 40-50 turns to take the settlement south of Carthage... ignoring the capital, it's their only settlement in Africa and the Brutii took Iliria just a few turns ago... the AI isn't as improved as they said.

I can confirm that the AI is now way more adept at sea invasions. Playing Pontus I got attacked through the Aegean first by the Greeks, then by Thrace and currently the Brutii (the latter’s first invasion-force I brutally lawn-mowered with my chariots)

In my first campaign, as the Julii, I'm pleased to see that the Greek City States are actually putting up a decent fight against the Brutii. Usually they're just a speed bump for the Brutii.

If played right, the greeks can be a little over powered. If the AI didn't cheat in favor of the romans, there is no reason why the greeks shouldn't control Sicily within 10 turns.

Can confirm, I'm also playing a Julii campaign and the Greeks are holding out against the Brutii really well.

This also happened in my Julii campaign. Also Thrace is going apeshit crazy. Allied with Germania in hopes of deterring Dacia and helping against Gaul. That backfired, never seen Gaul Brittania and Dacia be so ruthless to Germania whilst not fighting amongst themselves. Its usually the other way around, infighting and Germania steamrolling Brittania Gaul and Dacia.

Believe me or not: while playing my final campaign in the original as Macedon.... SPAIN has control of iberian peninsula and whole western Africa: Carthage, Thapsus etc. I have never before seen Spain doing well.

I did a short Brutii campaign today. Upon winning, the Seleucids and Thrace still existed and Carthage was close to winning itself, actually taking Sicily and most of Africa and Spain. All hail Space Age Carthage

I'm playing as the Julio. Usual moves. Took Cisalpine Gaul. BUT! My spy spotted two huge stacks near Massalia. One took the city. The other, led by the Gallic chieftain I like to call Windex, has 20 units and is headed my way. I've never seen a full Gallic army this early before. And the second one is almost as large. So the AI does seem to be campaigning differently. We shall see.

My first campaign in remastered was as Carthage and I ended up losing all my islands to the Julii because I didn't expect a naval invasion and left pathetic garrisons on them. Great stuff, 9s a real breath of fresh air for the game.

I think carthage can do good now, in my julli campaign they landed on arettium with full stack of only elephants and as I never bothered to build walls there they took it in same turn, so at least they improved ai requirement and movement, but I still want faction cap removed so I can make many new ones like in rome2...

I'm surprised the Seleucid Empire is doing so well. Normally, Egypt crushes the Seleucids early in the game. Rome Remastered must have added more staying power to the Seleucids. I can't wait to get the game.

In my Julli game. Early game the Brits went wild. Mid game Brutii and Egypt which is about right. Late game Brutii and Armenia But i will say the Scipii went full ham on the Greeks, they took all the islands and main land Greece. At least the Amazons look better now.

My top 3 most hated factions are Parthia, Pontus, and Gaul! I usually just force diplomacy accept give their lands to one of my favorite factions like britania and Thrace and they still struggle to survive against those factions! It’s crazy how strong those factions are

I really love your videos Melkor... always a lot of fun. But I noticed that you got the name of the british settlement Samarbrovi (or smth like that) perfectly and and you alway say Cornith instead of Corinth and it bogs me to no end.... really sorry about that but it hit me everytime you said it..... Also what happened with the Scipii they didn't do shit it looked like they started their game around 240 lol

Carthage dies indeed seem more powerful. On the 29th I started a brutii campaign and in that campaign they took Cirta as well as taking all of Iberia apart from the western Spanish provinces which they vassalised. They also beat the Scipii back at Messana and Carthage only fell once I had two full armies intervene in Sicily and Africa. They also held Syracuse at one point but it was recaptured by the Greeks

This blows my mind. I played countless campaigns back in the day and Egypt always ended up controlling all of Asia Minor and Seleucia was destroyed within the first 25 turns.

Rip no time lapse. Also from my experience yes AI is better for me. Armenia was dominant in one playthrough and egypt was the other, and the AI actually offers becoming protectorate if you're destroying them. Also I've seen Macedon colonize Cyrene

Macedon did sometimes colonize Cyrene in the old game. AI probably seems to think its next to Corinth.

My first campaign is Scipii and Brutii havent done anything the first 25 turns, Julii have a ceasefire with Gaul and only have 5 settlements. Kinda weird. Carthage is getting wrecked and not just because of me lol.

I really don’t like the huge bar across the bottom 20 percent of the screen in the original that doesn’t go away or minimize when you have nothing selected. It should be made an option to use the old UI though don’t get me wrong.

Most settlements are empty and it gets super boring after you destroy on full stack fieldarmy

On my playthrough (as the Julii) the Scipii took Sicily in two or three turns, but they took 20 to land on Carthage... and other 30 to take the settlement in the south (ignoring Carthage). The Brutii ignored the Greeks, the Senate send my for Salona (being Rebel), the Greeks took it after two sieges and they have four armies there, so I just landed on Sparta, advanced north and they're still guarding Salona. I got a plague at my capital and I'm using it against the other Roman factions just for fun (the Scipii were near of upgrading a city in Sicily when I infected it, so I avoided Marian Reforms). Dacia expanded its territory to my frontier and they vassalize the Germans, but Thrace defeated them and vassalize the Britions... ths Spanish just betrayed me taking Numancia and they have both Osca and Cartago Nova under siege (I bribed both cities). So naval invasions aren't working and the computer betray everyone like in the original game (I've seen how they ally with a faction and broke the it on the next one). I wonder what would happen if I choose another faction, I bet the only Roman faction that can grow is the Julii because they can expand without using ships. The "extreme" unit size isn't that bad, but I noticed it would be crushing your development if wanna rush with many armies, so I ended with 130K on my first 30 turns because a "standard army" requires 2K of population, while a complete army may require 3.5K About Greeks... did phalanx were that OP? I get crushed no matter I got a phalanx attacked from behind, a single unit defeated six of hastati...

Anyone having this problem with the reinforcements? The enemy can have 40 units on the field while I can only have 20? For example, I have two armies and my enemy has 2 armies with 20 units each. I will be outnumbered 2:1 and ONLY my reinforcements come in if a unit dies. Losing battles when I shouldn't

Hey Melkor, Scripting does not work as in the original restricting modding very heavily. Can you Adress this to feral ? The campaign Script is the only Thing we have for now and works fine. But you cannot save the game while it is running. And it only does start one Single time when starting the camoaign. And So you cant do much with it. The Problem is we have no other way of starting scripts. In the original we could use an advice Script to start our own Script. This advice Script could be started by using a Button on the old ui (Show me how). Unlike a campaign Script which only runs once this allows to rerun the Script after loading a game. And it allowed us to save the game even while it was running (again unlike the campaign Script). This Button and this advice thread are not used in the game anymore therefore we cannot use the same Script. And the Real Problem is that other triggers/threads/scripts do not work to start a custom Script. Therefore making scripting Almost impossible/useless. All these things could be done by scripting but wont be possible without it: -spawning armys -giving settlememts to other factions -move Ai armys to specific locations -kill generals -giving factions money (Helping the ai, or the Player) -allowing new buildings after a certain condition is met -proper hotseat campaigns -province Systems -making Events happen when a certain condition is met -its crucial to implement naval battles into the campaign (for this one feral would need to add some stuff tho) ... All this can be Set to happen after a certain building was build/coordinates reached/settlement captured/date... Its crucial for: -balancing the Ais economy -story driven mods Or whatever you can came up with

I have a question, is there a way in the new game to somehow limit the culture penalty? The biggest problem I have with the base game is that if you conquer fully developed enemy city of different culture, there is no way how you could rebuild the key structures (walls, farms, roads, palace, mines) into your own culture...
