Melland Schill Lecture 2022 - Legal Imagination and the History of International Power

Professor Martti Koskenniemi (Professor Emeritus, University of Helsinki) gave the 2022 Melland Schill Lecture on Friday, April 8, 2022 at the Manchester International Law Centre. The Lecture also saw Dr Gail Lythgoe and Professor Iain Scobbie discuss Professor Martti Koskenniemi's lecture.
Martti Koskenniemi has been called 'the leading international lawyer of his generation'. Given his life-long contribution to public international law and legal knowledge, and the recent publication of his book "To the Uttermost Parts of the Earth: Legal Imagination and International Power 1300-1870" we were especially delighted to be welcoming Professor Koskenniemi to Manchester this year.
The prestigious Melland Schill Lectures are a historical series of public lectures dealing with international law. Distinguished lecturers deliver a public lecture and the text of the lecture, and any multimedia material, are made available on the MILC website shortly afterwards.
