Thanks for the video. I used a hammer and followed up with water pump pliers. No problems.

Cinch type hose repair, will not hold up and you'll be fixing it every day you use it. Believe it or not, but about 50 years ago Melnor made a really good design. And looking at it you couldn't tell it was anything other than the original factory installation. The hose end was inserted into the replacement end and a tapered barrel like piece with shallow threads was screwed into the inside of the hose, wedging the whole thing together. To look at it you couldn't tell the end had been replaced. Now all we have is a handful of really crappy hose end repairs designed to make you give up and buy a new hose.

Water sprayed out through all the little holes caused by the prongs of the crimp

+1, on mine the crimp tabs just cut through the outer casing and inner wall of the hose.

Show me a pair of scissors that will cut through garden hose. Maybe the worlds cheapest 1/2" hose, but I doubt it.

I cut through a heavy duty 3/4 inch id hose no problem.

Please send a bill to Gilmour for you wonderfully showing us how to do a repair that Gilmour ignores in its video which doesn't address this type of male end. Gilmour also fails to provide instructions with the part. Thank you!

PS: I would advise users to first soak the end of the hose in hot water, until the hose end is soft, before inserting the end repair device.

Or just use a hose barb and hose clamp you can find at any hardware store like everyone else...

They don’t work either. And when you tape down the sharp edge with electric tape and it leaks you have to cut the end off and look for another product. Always return failed parts to stop the company from getting more of those bad parts.

Just bought two of these (male and female), did exactly as instructed, turned on the water and the water sprayed everywhere. These are horrible design, do not buy!

This is the stupidest design for hose mending. Water flow is fluid dynamic & that kind of clamp will never work correctly cuz u need a complete uniformed surround clamp with no open space between . I already spent $6 to see if it works so you don't have to try it yourself.

I spent $2 and it worked perfectly fine...

I can’t believe how disappointed I was when buying this awful product. Male and female leaked worse than the hose clamp version. I returned all of them for a refund and will go with the bulk clamp type with two screws. Which is what I had to begin with and the plastic snakes when I pulled on the hose. Last one is the metal bulky clamp type. After that it’s buy a new hose, which shouldn’t break in the first place
