I love it. Great work on the Syntakt. And yeah, it's an impressive little box, I am enjoying mine, too!

Whaouu 4:09 !!! Good job !!! I didn't think it was possible to do that with this groovebox!!

Yes, you can get pretty wild with the build-ups, especially if you add white noise to support the delay and reverb and let it ring out during the drop.

Really loving this set and trying to reproduce it. There’s plenty to learn. Thanks for that! 🙏🏼 I got a question regarding your pattern lengths: the melody on Track 5 at around 2:30 has 128 steps. Did you 1/2 the pattern or chain them? I can’t wrap my head around it since my grid doesn’t really allow me to play the notes as smooth with the track length running at half speed.
@wolfgang_grows2 ай бұрын
@@angstrm Hello and thank you for your kind words. I don’t chain patterns in my sets. The melody on track 5 was recorded and plays in half time. If you really want to dive deep and analyze parts of the set you can download the project file on gumroad. I even have some serious halloween discount going at the moment if you’re interested in more than one project.

This a great video thanks for sharing. The Syntakt is on my list to go with my Digitakt and Digitone. Off question what do you record into and how do you video your session?
@wolfgang_grows Жыл бұрын
I'm glad you enjoyed this video. I record either into Ableton or my old Tascam DR-40. For filming I just use my smartphone, a Galaxy S20.

This is 🔥 Warum hast du 2 Kicks? Sind sie gelayert oder kann es sein, dass man mit einer Kick den ducking Effekt macht, so dass man den analog fx Drive auf die anderen Tracks machen kann? Geht das?
@wolfgang_grows Жыл бұрын
Danke. Ja, im ersten Teil des Jams sind zwei Kickdrums gelayert (low end und high end). Hinterher benutze ich eine weitere Kickdrum für den Rumble Subbass der über den FX Kanal geduckt wird.

This is really inspiring, i'm just getting into the whole live set thing, originally i bought myself a model:cycles, which is fun and easy to use, i just feel like 6 tracks isn't quite enough and i only get so far with it.. then i liked the idea of buying all the Beringer remakes.. rd6, td3.. etc etc. I wanted the rd9 next, but in reality this thing seems much more intuitive, essentially i like the idea of one instrument you cant learn inside out and do an hour long jam with, that's my end goal. I wanna create an hours worth of content for a jam. I think this may be the box for me. Could you maybe break down the differences between this and the digitone? Also, how do you mix between 'tracks' or 'patterns' all sounds very streamlined your set, on the model:cycles you flick between patterns but the previous one just abruptly ends.. is there a work around on this? Thanks for any help with this! 👍🏻🙂

Hello and thanks for your detailed comment. Here are the answers to your questions: 1) The difference between the Digitone and the Syntakt is the fact that the Digitone has only 4 tracks instead of 12. However, since the Digitone is polyphonic one track can play multiple notes at the same time. The Syntakt can (so far) only play one note per track. It has a chord machine, but it's a bit limited. I'd say the Syntakt is more versatile. 2) With the Syntakt you can easily create one or two-hour-long sets. 3) The transitions are just made by switching patterns and applying fx like reverb, delay and white noise to make the transitions sound smooth.
@MrJustin8912 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the speedy reply! I guess that's one of the limitations of only one groovebox, but you make it work well, that's something i'll have to learn how to do better, transitioning.. I'm going to start saving for the Syntakt, you've sold it to me! I guess between that and the cycles i could do some cool stuff! Thanks again! 🎹🎛️

Amazing! I’m debating between the syntakt and an akai force. The force sure as more to offer in the long term but the syntakt is auch inspiring. Your opinion?
@wolfgang_grows Жыл бұрын
Cheers. The Force is a full DAW in a box and offers way more possibilities than the Syntakt. Because of its sampling capabilities and the plugin instruments, the Force can sound like everything whereas the Syntakt has a limited and distinctive sound. However, creating tracks with the Syntakt feels much more immediate, faster and quite different from producing on the Force. Do you want a full production studio in a box or a limited drum machine/synth with a faster and more refined workflow/sequencer? That's the question you have to answer for yourself.
@jth1670 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your reply. I’m leaning towards the force. I’m kind of a newbie, I have Logic and used to have a TR-8, but that’s pretty much it. I think having more possibility with I/O and sampling would be awesome. The « Keybord/scale » modes seems also more intersting on the force. I’d like to add the Vector Synth someday. Thanks for your reply!

did you do some additional work on a daw, or is this the straight output of the synthakt?
@wolfgang_grows Жыл бұрын
I recorded the set with ableton and used a saturater and a limiter on the master channel. No EQing.

Schade das die akai hinter ihren Möglichkeiten bleibt.. Akai sollte sich mal andere Geräte angucken. Nicht falsch verstehen, die force ist schon gut, aber da wäre mehr drin.. Gute Arbeit, wie immer
