Sharing this video with our patrons started an interesting conversation about whether it's appropriate or not to use certain kinds of make-up. We learned that a lot of Viking inspired make-up designs actually come from other cultures such as Native American populations, Inuit and Maori. Some people find the use of this kinds of make-up offensive or disrespectful, if made by people outside of the original culture. Our intent was clearly not to mock anyone nor to make something historically accurate, we just wanted to create an aesthetically impactful video. Lots of love to everyone. - Dave and Joe

Imo your intentions are pretty obvious, some people just want to find a reason to be offended so they can feel like they're a more moral person than you. What do you think the chances are that there was even one actual native American/Inuit or Maori was amongst those "offended"?
@Imurai2 ай бұрын
I've always found the discussion around "cultural appropriation" to be extremely pretentious.

Please stop apologizing to the perpetually-offended garbage people that would actually complain about something like this. You're giving them power by even acknowledging their opinions as remotely valid.

This was a wonderfully done video. And I think you did a wonderful job with the makeup - I say this as someone who's actively dealt with a lot of ethnic-cultural stereotyping (as recently as a few weeks ago, scarcely older than Linkin Park's reunion + tour announcement) and knows what the difference is. I know you weren't appropriating or disrespecting anything. Amazing job with the cover and the cinematography.
