God Wants You to Delight in Him, This is Why | Melody Alisa

Delighting in the Lord something that sounds good, right? But what does it really look like and more importantly, why is it something that God both invites and urges us to do? If you're anything like me, life has throwing you some curve balls lately and as I've been seeking God on how to navigate this season, He led me Psalm 37, specifically, verse 4. So in today's video, I am sharing what God has revealed to me about delighting in Him and I hope it encourages you on your walk, like it has for me. enjoy!! love you.

hey, sis! I missed you last week ♥ let's chat! Today's question: in what ways would your life look (even a little bit) different if you started intentionally focusing on delighting in God? For me: I wouldn't experience as much stress from trying to "control" things!! This is the biggest thing God has been showing to me as I've been unpacking this whole concept with Him. There's some freedom that Christ paid the price for me to experience AND that I have access to and delighting in the Lord helps me bridge that gap.

For me it's having ultimate joy in God! I feel like my burdens are a lot lighter when I spend time with the Lord rather than fixating on the things of the earth. I have certain desires that I would want to be fulfilled that aren't fulfilled yet. But God has me focused on Him and He is my happy place and it helps me to look at the world and my circumstances differently!

I’ve started being delightful in the Lord throughout my daily tasks. When I’m feeling blah or unmotivated to do the dishes or laundry I chat with Jesus. Thank him for the chores and the ability to do them. When I’m frustrated and worn out with this kids I delight in the Lord and thank him while holding my little ones.

I feel like this word was for me, for sure. I just finished up school and have began focusing more on settling down/getting married. Some days, I’m fine but other days I get really down about it. Praying to God/Elohim to send me my man! How I’m so tired of doing everything alone and how I feel more deserving than this person who is a cheater or a liar or etc. I’ve become TOO hyper focused on this and I’ve been noticing it take away from my happiness because I’m basing it on how well this date went or whatever. I’ve been single for so long that I’m now starting to feel like giving up, and maybe I should. I take this video popping up just now as my sign to leave dating alone for now and get re-centered with the Lord (Adonai) and just TRUST HIM, and stop trying to control everything. Thank you 🙏🏾

I feel you, I'm 34 with 2 kids and no options in sight. It has been my greatest desire since I was a little girl to have a husband, unfortunately I have had nothing but rejection from men and bad experiences with them. Sadly a relationship has become an idol for me. I've been single and alone for 14 years and its killing me mentally and emotionally. Pray God sends me a husband also

I’m comforted to know I am not alone in this. Thank you all for sharing because it confirms that I too need to stop idolizing my desires, and all the things I feel I lack. Hi Aatifah. I feel like I am going through the same thing and I had to actually be more conscious about what I was asking the Lord for and how I was reacting when I felt like I didn't get it. I had to repent for that and refocus my attention on being grateful for what I have and re-establishing my faith in His ability to do what is best for me. This is not easy and I don't want to make it seems like all of my internal feelings have melted away but I am not idolizing the love I want anymore and I am just trusting the Most High to do what He does. He does not make mistakes so whatever is happening is right on par with what is supposed to b happening. I hope this helps you as it did me. God Bless you and things will get better, you will see.

When I start delighting in the Lord, all my cares go away. My axiety, worry, and everything in between just don’t seem as big as I thought they were. So true! I’m working on intimacy with the Lord through fearing the Lord and delighting in Him. My life is already looking different in how I interact and see others. I have more patience and have more joy, and I’m not so focused on the things I was before, like finding a husband. When I start to delight in Him he fills up all those areas that I felt I was lacking. My concern with finding a husband was really a signal that I was lacking intimacy & trust with God.

I love this! Delighting in the Lord allows me to take the focus and attention off myself and putting it on God. In this season I’ve been unemployed for about 18 months now and really focusing on that can cause me to feel down and depressed but redirecting my focus on God allows me to set my eyes on him and waiting for his perfect timing. This time has allowed me to rest, refuel spiritually, care for my newborn and family in ways that I couldn’t have imagined if I was still working. If you’re in a similar season, I encourage you to delight in the Lord.

My first response and defense for everything used to be get angry and wonder how things would impact me. This command to delight in the Lord gives me freedom to trust Him and rejoice that He loves me and my unique worship. We are all one of one in the body of Jesus Christ but we all have our own sound that God wants to hear as we delight in His goodness. We must delight in the Lord even and especially when things don’t feel good. I was once in a choir but I wasn’t confident in my singing voice so I would barely sing and try to just blend in with other strong voices. The choir director could tell when everyone wasn’t singing with all their heart in it and would stop and have everyone sing the part individually in these instances. God wants to hear all of us! I want put my whole heart in delighting in Him because He only made one of me and He wants hear me along with all His other sons and daughters. Wow! This is just a confirmation of what I've read about Saturday. Ecclesiastes 3:1 "there is time for every DELIGHT and event or purpose under heaven." and I look deep into the word Delight and it says: is a high degree of gratification/ extreme satisfaction, contentment or fulfillment.. To me delighting in the Lord means being content/satisfied whether things are going my way or not cause most of our stress comes from failing to accept and be at peace with how things are, trying to fix what is beyond our control, failing to live in a moment but always ahead thinking, panicking about the future instead of just being content and fulfilled right here. I'm literally at peace right now, I've been loosing people left, right and center and I've waisted my time trying to make means that they stay and beating up my self on where did I go wrong but I've realised that no matter what I do they'll leave if they want and will never reciprocate the energy no matter how much I prove my loyalty. I'm at peace and continue to delight in the Lord.

For me, delighting in the Lord means experiencing more peace, joy, and thankfulness.Lately, I’ve found myself more focused on my circumstances. Which took the focus away from God. Placing my trust and focus on him would shift my heart posture to take on his desires and experience joy that’s not contingent upon my circumstances; but because of how good God is.

Your videos come right on time as usual. As I just did my SOAP notes on this scripture this morning. I had similar viewpoints that you mentioned in the video. For me and how my life would change, when I Delight in the Lord more, would be better for my life due to less stress by being fixed in the problem. Recently, I prayed for something I didn't receive(yet). I thought I had really heard from the Lord about it. I had mixed emotions and had faith paralysis. As I started praying more, I was led to this scripture. As I broke it down, I realized that even though it says we can get the desires of our hearts, there is something we have to do before getting the desires. As I was fixated on my own desires without Trusting-Dwelling-Delighting in the Lord. I'm realizing that when I Trust-Dwell- Delight in the Lord, has helped me to know that with Him lies my desires. Even if I don't get what I recently prayed for, delighting in the Lord is way better than anything I could ever desire..

This video was so on time for me! I have been curious and wanting to know more about these exact words for years. I felt I was delighting in the Lord and then I felt like but am I supposed to expect what I deisre if I do. It seemed sort of not right. I realized I have always desired marriage and children and now at 40 years old I am sad and wondering the "when" moment. I have always allowed men in my life who never did right by me and I just kept trying. I love without reason. I have began to not focus on what I would like and just let The Lord guide me and give me peace. Its happeneing! I am happier and I talk to HIM all throughout my days! I pray it continues!!

"in what ways would your life look (even a little bit) different if you started intentionally focusing on delighting in God?" gooooodness, it would look more like satisfaction. authentic and true satisfaction. i keep having this image in my head of the Father sitting crossed-legged on the ground, and me as His child just resting with Him, reclining on Him with no care in the world. you spoke about singleness and that season, which i am walking in, but you also spoke to the desire/yearning to step into purpose and accomplishments. i feel like that last bit has been eating at me the last couple of days, and ironically (but not coincidentally), the Father led me to Psalm 37 as well. just to know that being with Him is accomplishment annnd satisfaction in itself isn't just enough - it's more than enough and the ultimate call of our lives, no matter what the Lord chooses to do through us! thank you, melody, for sharing this encouragement, and thank you for sharing it once you received the green light from the Lord. your obedience folds perfectly into His timing and helps us out here in the flock hear His voice all the more clearer!
