Nice Job! Love Melrose Place and the cast...I'm definitely the next generation of MP fans since I was only 2 when it debuted! They all STILL look great to this day, love all this behind the scenes footage..the Fox Network definitely reached its peak in the 90s it's a sad former shell of itself 30 yrs later!📺

I was in 3rd grade when 90210 started and summer before 5th grade when Melrose Place Started. I didn’t understand some of the things I understand now. I can understand why Amanda would get mad with Allison when I became a supervisor and later a manager. I don’t think Amanda handled it well at times.

The pilot was really great, but I do remember the first season storylines feeling a bit too juvenile. And I think it is incredibly disappointing that they weren't brave enough to let Rhonda do anything romantically with the others in the building or to show Matt actually dating. The concept of young people in a complex just figuring out life is really strong. Of course the show shifted towards more of a soap opera, but that was fun too.
@briadventures Жыл бұрын
Good points! I feel the show was just finding itself in the first season, and as you point out, the soap opera feel it had in later seasons showed that they weren't afraid of trying new things. Thanks for watching!
@AxlKhan-v1f9 ай бұрын
Exactamundo. Granted it was the early 90s, I thought a bit of multi layered storylines like Rhonda hooking up with Jake woulda been interesting considering the actress who played Rhonda was very beautiful and charismatic, alas that didn't fit in with the straight as whitbread storylines they were going for. But in the end I supposed it all worked out considering how successful MP became.

Why did they get rid of Amy Locane ? I think she played Sandy.
@briadventures3 ай бұрын
@@louis5855 The show was developing a lot as it progressed and from what I would hear or read, I would say it was on the lines of creative differences. There's not a whole lot of information regarding her departure from the show.
@stereohype1Ай бұрын
The writers eventually got stuck trying to figure out what to do with her. I'd say it was a mostly due to a design flaw with the character. The first mistake was making Sandy and Jake's relationship a thing of the past before the show's main storlines begin so there was no potential budding romance storyline there to milk and unfortunately Jake was the only eligible bachelor series regular character for Sandy to pair with (Michael was with Jane and Matt being gay made them non options for becoming a romantic interest). Billy could have been but he was mostly assigned to Alison's character. The other design flaw was Sandy's occupation. Being an aspiring actress meant she was often free during the day (hence why she was often spotted alone sunning by the pool during daylight hours) when other characters should be at work. Sandy worked nightshifts so it was difficult to find plausible reasons for the other characters to interact with her unless they went to Shooters. Scenes at Shooters would always require a lot of extras which meant they cost more to film. So there budget issues at play too when trying to use the character. So when you look at it from that perspective, you can begin to understand why the writers eventually inadvertently painted the character into a corner. It was easier to design a new character from scratch (Jo) that had more flexibility than it would have been to rework Sandy into something that felt inauthentic. (Well, this was long before the producers started doing that anyway with characters like Michael lol)
@briadventuresАй бұрын
@@stereohype1 Great insight! You have some very great points there. Thinking about what you said, when it came to Sandy and Jakes relationship prior, and the no new relationship thing that could never happen with them, along with all your other points, its well taken! Thanks for watching, and for the comment!
