I find this one especially interesting, due to the roots in British folklore. There is just something all the more mysterious and fascinating when the stories have been passed down as true. Much appreciated, Merlin. So glad you enjoyed this one. The original story was written in what I believe was an old Yorkshire dialect, so I had to "translate" it. But there's charm in the way it was originally told. Here's how it started before I edited it: "Twere back-end o' t' yeer an t' lads had gone into t' woods to gether hesel-nuts an accorns." :)

@@ScaryFairyGodmother there is something magical in translating, and I find language so deeply intriguing, as if it holds shadow after shadow waiting to be discovered and brought in to the light. I remember having to learn Middle English in college in order to truly study middle aged texts. It really brought a feeling of authenticity and another level of understanding to the words written. As if you had a closer relationship to the author, like sitting in a room listening to their narration instead of reading them from a page.

Always look forward to uploads from this channel. They are just what I need to unwind at night, recapturing "childhood magic"and leaving me unsure of whether I really left it behind. It's interesting in my case, as I consider my emotional childhood starting at age 14, the age when I started high school and started becoming less shy about making friends (if only for "practical allies" reasons). I started embracing my inherent difference and reflecting on my POV as a positive, if only for myself. Some uncultured souls might consider me "fairy touched" on account of being born with a (develop)mental disability; I prefer the term "queer to the second degree", "strange and unusual" works too.

Thankyou so much, as one of your listeners, & a woman who just never knew how to "grow out" of faerie stories or believing in the elder ones, the complicated Great ones, neither Good nor evil, but many shades of balance, as one would expect from ancient ones in tune with Nature, and older than time. it's a great feeling to be able to rely on you for a brand new video of Fae story narrations. Funny thing. I accidentally found your channel last Saturday (Feb 11) and like under spell, I was listening your magical stories all weekend. You have a very beautiful voice, just made for such stories. Your channel reminded me of a book called "Fairies and elves", which my cousin once got and which I dreamed of owning (she doesn't like such topics, to be honest, no one in my family understands them, so as a child I secretly paged through this book while staying at her house). The book was published in the 1990s and never reissued. I tried to buy it few times before, but it was not available anywhere. On Sunday I managed to find and buy it and it is on its way to me.
