Melt Banana Lite was one of my favourite live performances ever. Absolutely blew me away. The noise these two generate is nothing short of incredible.

***** Yep. Personally I think their sound really benefits from being a two-piece band. They're 1000 times tighter and still just as ear-meltingly awesome!

The bass player and drummer were fun to watch - but their sound is much tighter as a two piece . Wish I had known they were i the states !

It is weird not to have Rika on bass. They sing and play guitar overtop bass and drum recordings since 2013. But the bass is a strong element on most songs. Its simply not the same without Rika on bass. She was a key to the bands great sound.

Sad, but I think they had to pare down for financial reasons. Sadly it's very costly to tour nowadays
@doozle51323 жыл бұрын
@@davejones5745 It's a shame they got rid of her. They are one of my favourite bands, but they don't sound as good now... it kind of seems disloyal of them to sack the rhythm section.
@mecrushed12 жыл бұрын
I feel that, but I find the music sounds more unique without the rhythm section, it's more abstract and textural. It sort of reminds me of hyperpop artist like 100 gecs or charli xcx, which their last album predated I think. Can't wait to hear what they do next!

really enjoyed this, thank you! If it's not a secret, what camera/phone did you use? The sound is not the usual mush garbage you get at loud shows. The video quality is excellent too.
@mastuhman9 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I've tried quite a few cameras, but this was shot with the Nikon L830, which is good for shows because the lens isn't detachable and it has good quality in low light.

mastuhman thanks for the info! Seems this camera has good audio level control and not that expensive.

mastuhman ....there is that trade mark Morse code type noise denoting its a point and shoot camera. I have not nailed down what causes the noise but I stay away from them for live shows ever since the sony wx days. sony nex cameras did not have this issues :p

Does anyone know what that thing is that Yasuko is holding in her hand? I just got back from their show in Cologne and I couldn't figure out how it works, no matter how hard my brain tried. I figured it's somehow linked to the samples, but I have absolutely no idea how. Probably even less than no idea.

I saw them yesterday in Brussels and I also was wondering. So today Google helped me to find out that it is a Numark Orbit.

She uses it to manually control the backing tracks. It helps make it feel more interactive and organic. I remember reading in an interview that before doing this, having all the backing tracks made concerts feel like karaoke.
