Hi, this is very interesting. Do you have any publications regarding this technique? Or do you have any contacts if I want to collaborate on this? I'm working on incorporating CNTs into PET by melt spinning.

Yes we have several publications on the topic. Can you contact me by email to talk about that ?

very impressive !what is the difference between metal yarn and yours?and Is that possibe for using heating gadget?(cloth,pad etc..)
@ericdevaux11287 жыл бұрын
The conductivity is lower than metallic yarns, but we work on the improvement of the percolation pathway in order to increase it

CNT added is Single Wall or Milti Wall? I've tried several times to spin CTN yarn, but its conductivity is not that good as I aimed.. Anyway, very happy to see someone is doing same what I've persued!!

Is it possible to have carbon nanotubes in a solid state where it’s not a powder, for example to make a stable brick out of it?
@DaveSmith-cp5kj4 жыл бұрын
Ideally yes, but that's the problem research is trying to solve. Currently we can only grow them a few feet long in the most ideal circumstances. The reality is you probably would not want a solid piece of carbon nanotubes stacked together as its role is to strengthen an existing medium like glass fill does to polymer. By itself it probably won't have the properties you are looking for.
@irrelevantfish19782 жыл бұрын
@@DaveSmith-cp5kj Actually, a "CNT brick" (which I believe would be called "3D tubulane") is basically the holy grail of material science, and could theoretically have properties similar to those of individual CNTs, which are often massively superior to any single-scale CNT composites I've seen referenced in the literature. Those properties could also be hugely varied by tuning things like wall-count, connectivity, and diameter, making it an ideal material for a large number of wildly different applications. Frankly, CNT composites are rarely that great, often only incrementally better than the matrix material alone, and frequently outperformed by more conventional reinforcements like carbon fiber. However, since researchers haven't even figured out how to make 1D tubulane at the nanoscale, let alone a 3D tubulane the size of a brick, CNTs will likely be confined to compositing for quite a long time.

@ericdevaux11287 жыл бұрын
Not at all. We are in a research laboratory and we don't have the possibility to make batches
@VicariousReality79 жыл бұрын
Is that safe to touch?
@ericdevaux11289 жыл бұрын
+VicariousReality7 No problem indeed, the temperature at the exit of the dies is sufficiently low, and the carbon nanotubes are embedded in the bulk polymer
@peterlorenz46849 жыл бұрын
Is it somehow possible to do this initial process automatically?
@DaveSmith-cp5kj4 жыл бұрын
Sure, via a CNC arm, but that's a lot of expense for a task that is very simple. Much cheaper to just use one of the staff already employed to do the task. It only has to be done once per spool, so that's pretty good labor cost to profit margins.

Is spinning possible from a polymer 'solution' ? Thanks!
@klootenviool7 жыл бұрын
Yes, both wet, and dryspinning are executed by dissolving a polymer in a solvent before squeezing it through.
