Melt [I see mainly two people in this, so I’ll put the “victim” as PA (person A) and the other person as PB (person B).] A television set and a broken metal chest [Reminds me of the art for Echo and could represent the changing of emotions like a TV. “A broken metal chest” could mean that PA was strong at heart, but had been hurt so badly, emotionally since the chest is where the heart is and the rib cage does protect it. So like, the pain that’s being caused breaks the defense around your heart and hurts you where it matters.] A black hole for a brain and some matter for the rest [Possibly could mean that the “black hole” represents the loss of thoughts and thoughtlessness or that PA’s mind has been left as a void from what they’ve been through. The matter part could mean that the rest of the body doesn’t really matter cause it’s not where you can describe as being effected by some kind of mental and emotional pain. The “matter” could be what’s left unsaid or unneeded to be mentioned. Do you think I’m real? Do you think I feel? [Could mean that they’re asking PB what they think of the victim. “Do you think I’m real?” possibly points to asking if PA is more than a thing and “Do you think I feel?” Could add to that because a thing would be described as having no feelings. Maybe it hints at that PB is not seeing PA as a person or not having too much care towards them.] A drop of lying lips that the wilted roses miss [Possibly meaning that PA was lied to and could not have realized it, so they slowly “wilt” like a flower because of not knowing of those lies and probably believing the lies PB makes.] Sing me a lullaby and I’ll try and to make it right Though my experiments usually end in a mess [Makes me think that PA believes they are doing something wrong or something is going wrong with the relationship between the two (not sure what kind of relationship it is, but I always think of a friendship/platonic relationship). Now PA is trying to fix it on their side and make it right with the PB, but ends up messing things up anyways. The second line could also possibly mean that the relationship is the “experiment” that seems to end up as a mess.] Do you think I care? Do you think it’s fair? [Could mean that PA is having enough of it and the growing pain and asking whether it fair that PB is affecting them so badly.] You’d think I could forgive, but I’m “cruel and heartless” aren’t it? [Maybe means that PB thinks they can easily be forgiven by PA, but has the impression that PA is too “cruel and heartless” to do that because of the “accusations” from PA that they don’t care.] Throw my lab coat on, turn my human half off [Could mean that PA is putting on some kind of mental defense as the “lab coat” or some kind of state of thought. This causes their emotional side to “turn off” to keep to themselves. Test hypotheses for why you’re hurting me [Possibly means that PA searching for a reason and explanation as to why the other is hurting them.] You’re the one in the right, on the 4th dimension side [Now I did some research for this one, but the explanation that seems to fit this the most is that PB is in their own time and space. That they are described as self absorbed.] I’ll be on my knees like a screened machine [Could mean that PA has been brought down by PB for the “I’ll be on my knees” and that the “like a screened machine” could mean that PA is still trying to figure things out like they are trying to compute it all.] Staring, testing, tearing My theories can’t fail at all Staring, testing, testing But in practice it always goes wrong [It possibly is saying that PA is trying hard to figure out what is wrong or what went wrong which is the “theories”. But, when they try to see if that’s true and if that’s what’s causing it all, it always fails once it’s being put “in practice” when they actually try to see if they got it right.] My theories can’t fail at all But in practice it always goes wrong The brightest LEDs, but the dullest memory [Probably means that the emotions that were felt as first were positive and bright, but the memory ended up turning dull and meaningless once things went wrong.] Some tools to stop the pain and some drugs to ease the strain [Could mean that PA then tried to find things to calm them or make them feel better from all the hurt and pain.] Do you think I’m here? Do you hold me dear? [Maybe it’s PA asking PB if they thought that PA even existed as a person to PB and if they ever even cared about PA.] A dot of blackest ink that can mark the beginning [Possibly means that the “dot of blackest ink” represent the strong impact and influence that can start everything.] Platinum plated bones and some glass to coat my own So fragile don’t come near, but you did though I said “no” [It could mean that PA is still sensitive and fragile, but someone else or PB ends up coming near and hurting them again when they are in their fragile state despite that they’ve said to “stay away”.] Were you ever there? Did you ever care? Prove to me you’ve changed or I’ll cut you out from my end [Could mean that PA is now asking if the PB was ever there for them and if they ever cared about them in the first place. The last line probably means that PA want proof that PB, who came back, can change for the better and if not, then that’s it. But, it’s all being described with the theme of science and scientific terms. Because it’s like a result to a theory or some kind of formula or reaction, something that ends up failing. This is what I gain from it. It may not be right or it might be kind of right. But, this is what I believe it’s saying. I see a story here.]
