Hey Big D. Finally caught up on the story. Seen all your vids now and gotta say it's been something, emotional even. You have come a long way from your first video. It's not an easy hobby and lot of people would have given up, but you carried on through all the fails. Its been an absolute pleasure to see your hard work prevail and have to say that I personally have not taken this much interest on a You Tube channel as I have had with yours, even though I discovered it very recently. Now like a lot of other people will look forward to seeing your vids when you add one. There is something about what you do that is so satisfying and helps to wind down. Thank you

I'm sure you've done this way more than me, but please be careful around capacitors, especially in something like this. Even if it's been sitting in scrap for years, they can hold a nasty shock that can easily hurt you or potentially even stop your heart.
@christiandominiquethompson64713 жыл бұрын
how can they still hold current after they've been discarded?
@fwkessam3 жыл бұрын
@@christiandominiquethompson6471 The problem is, sometimes they haven't been discharged. And capacitors hold energy in electric fields not in a chemical bond, so they're much more stable over time. In something like a transformer, especially if it was just taken down and tossed in the scrap bin, then it may never have been properly discharged, and those capacitors could still have a full charge even years later.

More than meets the eye! As to the circuit boards: luckily you're close to China so it should be easier for you to find an e-waste buyer. However I feel like precious metal recovery would be right up your alley. You've got a nice little pile of gold, silver, and platinum there. Also tantalum but you should probably just sell that to a recycler because it's a pretty rare resource and it's necessary for electronics.
