Traders from my state used to do trade in that region of Indonesia. Kalinga provided all and thus was an important maritime kingdom which had seafaring activities. Trading in spices, diamonds, elephants, ivory, paper, betel nuts, fine textiles and fabrics. It was known as Calingae, Holing, Kiling in different languages. Kalinga kingdom was ruled by Mahameghavahana dynasty, Kharavela(193 to 170 B.C) their 3rd king was the most powerful. Under him, Maritime traded was going on with Simhala (Sri Lanka), Burma, Siam (Thailand), Kambhoj (Cambodia), Samudra (Sumatra) and Jabadwipa (Java). Kalinga is modern day Odisha. Many traders settled there and their descendants some now even acknowledged their ancestral roots. Indonesians called kalinga people-The merchants were known as Quelins (Kling, the people of Kalinga from India). Now every year a festival and fair organised in November where people sail boats made of paper, cardboard, banana tree in remembrance of those traders and our rich maritime history. Its called- bali jatra

I'm learning Indonesian. Noticed Ryan says "tetapi" while she says "tapi." Online courses rarely teach you to speak the way people actually speak, they teach you a more formal version of the language. Indonesian has a dizzying number of words which have a different form in casual vs formal speech.

On 4:17-19, the girl said “Aku kasih kamu cepek”, and probably you misheard it as ”cepat” or perhaps you don't know this word, since this is a very colloquial word. What she intended to say is “I give you 💯 (score)” (‘Good job’). The word “cepek” [tʃə.ˈpɛʔ] means ‘a hundred’ (from Chinese [I’m not sure from which dialect]: 一百 chít peh). This kind of colloquial word is often used in the Greater Jakarta's area. Well, colloquial words will be very tricky to learn. But anyway, what a great progress on your Indonesian! Semangat!
