I'd advise against the Teflon coated pans. After a bit the coating will come off and it's also toxic is it does start burning. Using a regular cast iron biscuit pan works great and even after years of use it will always release the lead. Little info, the lead will shrink in size a little as it cools so as long as there isn't something for it to catch on it will pop out most every time.

I highly recommend keeping lead away from water. Cool the ingots on scrap plywood, bricks, cement etc. The ingots MUST be 100 percent dry before re-melting or you will have an explosion that shoots hot lead for up to 12-15 feet. If you are within that area, you will be peppered with molten lead. Heavy duty welders gloves and eye protection are also highly encouraged. I have found long metal spoons at thrift stores to be very cheap and effective at removing the slag. Just remember that you don't want to drip sweat into the lead as it will also create a pop like you will not believe. Btw, the ingots will be hard enough to put out after only 10 seconds. I keep old metal coffee cans for the slag. Talcum powder is a great agent to brush on any pans or ingot molds if you find sticking. DO NOT use cornstarch based powders.

YES!!!!!! NO water , you heard how that shit was making that noise in the water , you are very lucky that lead had a harder shell around it or that would have sprayed you. I was drinking a water out of a btl and it fell over and later hot lead got dripped on it and wow lucky I had glasses and a beard on or I would be blind with face burns. it is still sprayed on my garage door as a reminder everytime I melt lead. don't make me say told you so dam it !!!!!!

If I melt old sinkers with swivels and clips in them, will the clips and swivels float to the top or will they sink to the bottom of the pot?

Fluxing your scrap lead a couple of times with saw dust or cheap candles gets a lot of the crap out of the mix. And NO WATER! just dump your molds and let the ingots air cool.

I wouldn't sniff the air as it's very poisonous to you. Put a lid on the job and it melts a whole lot quicker.
