The area of focus on sea Ice extent is precisely where the volcanic activity under the ice is the greatest. Nothing mentioned of this only how the past atmospheric correlations now do not make sense. Perhaps there is a yet unseen change in the volcanic activity. There could be more sulphur dioxide being emitted that would change the water minerals to make for less ice creation possible. Many factors not discussed.
