Melton Reservoir Fishing Bass and Estuary Perch

Today's video is all about chasing the mighty Australian bass and The aggressive Estuary Perch at Melton Reservoir.
I used a range of hard body lure's with different techniques, from trolling to casting and even jigging up from the bottom.
I found the best way to target these guys is to cast as close to the snags as you can, You will see in todays video, some of the casts were a little bit to close to those snags in question.

HaHaHa, I think I may have snagged in those same trees today Steve but unfortunately all I caught today were a few small reddies, still a nice day to be on the res though. Gee they were some nice Bass, I didn't know there were bass in the Melton reservoir, today was my first time out on the water there but seeing what can be caught there I shall be trying again. Cheers.

Hi daryl, That snag is a pain LoL!. at least you got reddies, better than donuts. No records anywhere saying bass have been stocked, but they may have been mixed up like when fisheries put them in the river as well

Hey mate, Do you mean at melton res ? Since making this vid, I havent been able to get back in the water down there myself, I don't have a 4wd so cant really access the track that everyone is talking about on facebook, Hopefully by the time the weather warms up again at the end of the year the road will be opened and the fish will be biting again

Hey Steve was wondering how deep the water in melton reservior? Any other species besides redfin and bass? Could you bring a boat there or only kayaks?

you can use a boat in there, but you need to be a member of the Melbourne Runabout & Speedboat Club, Honestly I am not 100 sure on the depth, but its over 15mtrs in the main channel

Just goes to show, it may look like a tip on the outside, but as long as the water quality is all good, the fish will thrive

Great stuff again Steve and some lovely Bass. I wasn't as lucky as you when I got a lure stuck in my back lol. It stuck right into me as I tried to get my shirt off. Luckily I was at Sanctuary Lakes and a passer by cut the hook with my pliers and pulled it through.

yeah mate, end of clarkes road, you can park in behind the pistol club, while the water level is up its an easy place to launch ya yak. I can park right on the waters edge and drop it straight it.
