To me it seemed like he was drawing a line. He didn’t want to overstep himself so he went back to being just the believer hua Chung. When he wants to be with Xie Lian and get close to him he called him GeGe. There are times in the book that he uses “my highness” in a respectful way in the beginning once he’s found out by Xie Lian, but is given a tactic approval to use Gege. 🥰 I think it’s sweet cause it shows their closeness. So when he uses”my highness” especially in this situation it feels sad. Like he’s trying to go back to that way of calling him because he “knows” that he will be rejected.

The finger twitching from Hua Cheng the way his shoulders shook in a humorless knowing laugh when he said. “That’s true…” hurts because even without the voices I can HEAR the longing and the painful acceptance of not wanting to hear the rejection of Xie Lian. A fear of rejection that is IRRELEVANT cuz Xie Lian loves him and his insecurities are all kinds of messed up, but I can hear it in his voice and it HURTS. 😭

@@EM-wn7jd Hua Cheng - during time when he have been growing and turning slowly into a ghost king in cave under Kiln, (in short - ghost mountain/volcano) where he was sealed for 10 years - carved hundreds of Xie Lian statues. (romantic ofc, but also a bit creepy...) This scene is several moments after Mu Qing, Feng Xin and Xie Lian found out about it AND Hua Cheng identity as Hong-er, boy in rags from Xian Le which life Xie Lian saved during parade 800y ago. (There was also Bai Wuxiang between that and scene on the vid but that's far longer story - and reason why Xie Lian's panicking at the start) Overall Mu Qing and Feng Xin were both worried abt Xie Lian's security around Hua Cheng and Bai Wuxiang, Hua Cheng was scared out of his pants abt Xie Lian's reaction (and his security around Bai Wuxiang) and Xie Lian himself with Hua Cheng was like "I thought a bit and I'm into anyway"

I like the way Hua Cheng spun around and hugged Xia Lian back so tightly. Xia Lian seemed to be enjoying it and felt safe being all wrapped up in his arms. At first , Xia Lian was in a panic because of White - No - Face but then felt a sense of security. Don't worry Xia Lian, you're safe with Hua Cheng. Bai Wuxiang can't hurt you with your husband there

Poor thing, he was so certain he was gonna get reject, he didn't even want Xie Lian to say anything 😭 I think Hua Cheng lost all his hopes of Xie Lian loving him back after his reaction to the "Gege, do you wanna get married?" on book 3. HC said it was just a joke but he was actualy completely heartbroken. But even after that he wd still be close to Xie Lian, help and protect him

Every time KZbin recommends this video, I click on it and watch it at least five times if not more. I haven't had the chance to read the novels yet (still being delivered), but my gosh, as a novice artist, I aspire to have at least half of your ability to put so much emotion into a silent animatic as you do.
