Alright with this bad boy out that should be enough "basic" guides for the moments unless you guys want me to tackle a very specific subject I haven't already. So maybe a combo guide or two in the next few days? Once TGS is finished there's a lot I want to talk about for KoF 15 with all this new gameplay footage dropping as well cause theres so much interesting stuff! Also there may be Strive news soon, so we gotta wait and see on that one.

I would like something answered that I haven't been able to find if you think it's worth answering, either by video or just reply here, I don't know how much it affects other characters but anyway. So color customization, I have seen Roa's lightning be 3 different variations, normal violet, gold with violet hit effects and straight gold. I have done extensive testing to make sure it's not a p1-p2 thing or costume selection specific, it definitely seems to be connected to the palette choices, however I have changed each one 1 one by 1 and I still can't find what option or option(s) affects it. I personally would love black or red lightning but I've only seen violet, gold and or violet+gold mix. You happen to know what specific options affect it, and as well what other characters may have their energy or attack colors affected by palette choices and perhaps some sort of way to identify which ones matter to it? Because I was never able to pinpoint which ones change Roa's lighting :/

This is the most intuitive and creative combo system I've ever seen n in a fighting game. There's no need for autocombos if it works like you would imagine: just do one move after another! No long strings to remember, you make your own strings! And also being able to charge moves? Gosh I love this, it almost feels more like an action game than a fighter to my feeble brain, haha - I'm so excited to get my hands on this!

Funny Thing. I bought this and slowly went through the tutorial to learn the mechanics. It really made me appreciate Underknight and BlazBlue. When I first bought them I didn't have the patience to learn the meter mechanics. After playing Melty Blood Tutorial all 3 made a lot more sense and seem a lot more interesting... But it also makes me wish games like Mk11 and DBFZ had the same level of depth.

I think you covered shield's weaknesses very well. A lot of players are struggling to beat it right now. I think it's also important to note that the A, B, B+C are not the only shield follow-ups that are available. For instance if you shield a jump in and think they'll shield back or delay shield you could instead choose to go for like a 2A instead of interacting with the canned mixup. Or when shielding a grounded option and the opponent stops and is looking for retaliation you can run up and throw them. Or if you jump in and shield a ground to air option and think they may try to engage on the shield war. Instead of going for a left/right mixup you can turn it into a high/low mixup by either going for shield counter A or hitting the ground and going for a 2A. Of course these options have their counterplay too but often the most reward you gain is from an option that you wouldn't even think of having just completed the tutorial. And very important when shielding projectiles you don't always have to Counter B. The opponent will be looking specifically for this option. Why not dash shield them until they least expect it then hit them with a Shield B+C or then use a sneaky Shield B when they don't expect it. You don't always have to choose an option, shield into nothing is completely viable
@NightYorah
@NightYorah 2 жыл бұрын
The shielding can be interesting and fun sometimes but the constant amount of RPS that you have to play is somewhat annoying. All the options you suggested also depend on guesses. Cant wait for lab monsters to make lots of anti-shield oki.

@grantgarbour
@grantgarbour 2 жыл бұрын
@@NightYorah having a defensive option to always worry about can be draining but I also find it very enjoyable. Especially since my opponent whiffing their shield usually ends with me either getting a good confirm or a strong throw. And the lab monsters already have a lot of OSs floating around twitter lol. In most fg there is nothing you can do to minimize constant guessing or reading your opponent. I don't think it's necessarily a flaw

16:37 you have another option other than delay shield, you can mash out 3C launcher to beat the shield vanish. So if you're 1P side mash 1C. This only works if they shielded a grounded light move or projectile from range tho, something with fast recovery.

Noel rebeat pressure to try for anyone new to this mechanic... 2B>5C>2C>5Awhiff>2C>5C>2B>5Awhiff. due to her 5C having a vacuum effect on block you can create longer rebeat strings mid screen than other characters by using 5C to pull them in for more pressure. once you get the flow for how your character rebeats you should just be able to improvise these. also the way to beat rebeating is by mashing on the whiffs but this has to be done predictably not reactively. if they try to shield out of this after you whiff then just play reactively after whiffing rather than continuing pressure. be sure to mix up where your whiffed 5As and 2As are to stay unpredictable.

Hey rooflemonger I'm a big fan. I have a big question to you or anybody else who will help me understand. Why should you not shield on wakeup if you think they are going for a strike? Let me walk you through my thought process, this isnt rhetorical. Low shield beats mid and low. What else does that? Low block. What do you get from low block? Nothing. What do you get from low shield? RPS or a moon metered return to neutral. High shield beats mids and high. What else does that? You get where I'm going. If you get hit for guessing wrong on block, you get hit. If you block when they go for a grab, you get grabbed. If you get hit for guessing wrong on shield, you get fatal countered, but how much more damaging are fatal counters? This is what I'm missing, why is getting fatal countered so much worse than just getting hit? I get it gives them more moon meter, but this doesn't seem like very big deal at the moment. Getting grabbed out of shield only adds like 300 damage to the grab. In BB, fatal counters added more hit stun to the whole combo, that's kinda what I want from fatals. I hope my comment ages like milk. I really am not having fun right now with the shield stuff. I think the risk reward is not properly balanced. Send help, thanks in advance.
@rooflemonger
@rooflemonger 2 жыл бұрын
Shield on wakeup auto loses to whichever direction you didn't shield, and now you can't recover or react in time to block the other, and automatically loses to throws. You fight someone like me whose primary action is throw anyways, and you gonna learn real quick shield can't save you.

@rooflemonger

thats a really good question I don't have an answer for right now. The usual trick is dash, then half circle forward and the other inputs wipe the dash out of the buffer so you just get normal qcf in the end, but that doesn't work in this game.

Quasi, after screwing around in training mode with Miyako, I found out after you dash that she continues to run for quite a distance even after you let go of forward. So dash forward, then return your motion input to neutral, then do 236. This works even if you do it really quick. 6AB, 5 for at least 5 frames it seems, 236B. Let me know if that helps!

I’m just a viewer of the game for now rather than a player, but from what I’ve seen the Shield doesn’t look too strong to me. It could do with just a sliver more nuance tho, perhaps (which could very well develop by itself from people just playing the game more). Like, maybe add just a teeny tiny more recovery frames on a Shield whiff, and a little more still the longer you hold it. And perhaps down the road add another attack option out of it. But overall it seems fine to me. Gonna get exciting once more players start doing nothing out of Shield to whiff punish an opponent’s counter Shield attempt. And then the opponent start countering the “do nothing” with a throw. Etc, etc, fighting game mind games
