Yo LK I really appreciate you man, I'm pretty new into fighting games, I bought strive as my first one a couple months ago and was having so much fun even though I didn't know what was going on, but I really wanna improve and get better to enjoy fighting games at their full protentional, I'm very competitive so casual play really isn't for me, I hope some day I'll become good and confident enough to go to some local tournament or something, I'd really like to be a pro one day or something but it seems so difficult and stressful, I'm still having so much fun playing fighting games though, thank you for making guides and stuff like this, this is my first melty blood and I love the game so I'm thinking about becoming the best I can become in this game and giving it my all! :)

Those charged normal overheads are pretty slow but one thing they are good at is blowing people mashing crouch shield. Once someone guesses crouching shield they *cannot* switch to standing shield on reaction. They're stuck. You get a beefy Fatal Counterhit starter. Also Arc's charged 5B has clash frames once it gets about halfway though the animation so it also will mess with reversals.

Look at situations from more angles. This means looking at situations dependent on screen positioning relative to the other character. In sfv or most grounded games you really just have to worry about the ground vs ground game and the occasional jump. Since you only have the ground versus ground game it's easy to evaluate what moves people will do at what ranges and counter play it. In melty blood and anime games you have to work on recognizing more varied neutral situations, and the most likely to be used options in those situations. For example you want to break down situations in this format: Ground to air Air to ground Ground to ground Air to air (Note: you need to do this for both characters are you in the air and they are on the ground? Vice versa for each format) Where are you and where is the opponent at and what options do they have. I am new to melty as well and was having trouble with neutral too(since I come from more grounded based games)but once I started breaking down situations in that format it, and evaluating possible moves and situations it made it much easier to understand what the opponent is most likely to do in any situation,then counter Like in any fighting game. But also watch j.g's foundation for movement in melty too. Hope this helps.
