This makes sense why Shiki always picks scissors during the shield (rock) RPS situation lol. I learned from all every other Shiki online that it is indeed the right answer every time because you can't be scared to stab a mf.

the beginning step of structuring your offense in this game should be trying to convince your opponent that shielding out of your pressure is a bad idea. once theyre afraid to shield you can really go ham with any character.

we are trying our best out here! Depending on the type of video I sometimes think the face cam will get in the way of the demonstrations so I opt out. Don't worry face cam will be in some videos coming up like discussion videos around the game!

This video is great, very informative and easy to learn. I play Miyako, so after I shield and then I see my opponent shield, I grab and get a full combo off that. It’s such a mind game cause I get scared I’m gonna get launched

A distinction that I think needs to be clarified is that you can only switch shield positions between high and low AFTER blocking at least one attack. You cannot change the position of a freshly activate shield that hasn't absorbed an attack, so players who do nothing on wake-up can fatal counter you on reaction if you press shield, or attack you when you release it. Also, the B+C follow up costs half moon gauge for both the offensive and defensive player. It only looks like the player shielding spends 1/4th meter because when you successfully shield, you are rewarded with an additional 2 moon gauge bars at the end of the current shield interaction (i.e. when you release shield, cancel it, or get hit out of it). If the player who executed the shield and blocked the attack has less than 50% moon gauge, they cannot use the B+C follow-up, even though they will be rewarded moon gauge for landing a shield afterwards.

Thank you very much, my friend loves spam shield to every single move and I didn't know how to response to that, specially when he teleports behind me. I play Red Arcueid so it's annoying when he shield my projectiles or C attacks
@MLmaster1353 жыл бұрын
surprisingly the A shield follow up can actually reach the b+c follow up, though its only from the corner

I played witha vlov earlier and idk how much of his projectile i shielded but didnt initiate just because, and the fact that the vlov is shielding from pretty much fullscreen more often than not in response to that is kinda funny to me
@cctz_13 жыл бұрын
Mans is expecting that b followup lol. But iirc from a really far distance on projectiles you can just block the b because it takes long enough to get to you

11:58 new to fighting games, in this situation how can I counter 3C then? Because I can’t get close to the opponent if opponent keep shooting projectile to keep the distance if I’m playing melee such as Shiki. If I keep dashing whenever I try to stop myself I will take stagger duration that I can’t block or shield so it leads to a full combo on me. Pressing B it’s a guaranteed hit from opponent by 3BC. Ciel, Roa, Vlov they both has tendency to shoot projectiles rapidly. It’s kinda desperate to deal with them every time going against them (yea so I dodge them a lot…). You just can’t B them otherwise you just get hit it’s so busted.
@stone30163 жыл бұрын
you really just have to slowly make your way in. at least with vlov, once you're in, he doesn't have a lot of good get-off-me options so just go ham

To be honest, im not a fan of how powerful the shield is. This is only off about 12-15 hours of play time. I seem to be able to cheese people with shield and get a free small combo into a grab on wake up cause the opponent was wake up shielding. Just my opinion though.
@yenice36523 жыл бұрын
That's what I thought at first but I've now realized that shield (on HKD) is making 2 guesses; high/low and strike with no baits. If you have good mix it's easier to deal with
@anothernoob91103 жыл бұрын
Turning Input Display on in tutorial videos are a great help for newer people that don't have a deep understanding of FGs. It's also easier to see exactly what are you doing and when you say "See? In this situation I'm locked in and can't do anything" it's very clearly verifiable. Oh, you did turn it on halfway through. But there was a situation before it that having it already on would have been yet another way to solidify your point that you can't input shield after a Moon skill/EX Special.
@DaikenFGC3 жыл бұрын
yea i remembered to turn them on halfway through sorry! I keep forgetting while they don't help me it may help someone out there.

@spongbobsquarepants39223 жыл бұрын
Why would auto combos bother you?
@mallow29023 жыл бұрын
@@spongbobsquarepants3922 it is way too easy to accidentally get stuck in auto-combo in this game when you mean to do something else, especially since it's on every button. It's even worse because auto-combos are unsafe on block and you can't reverse beat out of them.
@Opebin3 жыл бұрын
@@mallow2902 they've given a lot more characters safe on block specials (usually like -4 or -2) to make up for this it seems doesn't fix the problem all the time but if you can remember to use those at least blocked autocombos wont get you killed outright
