Part 9: • Melvin Farmer: The Eig...
Part 1: • Melvin Farmer on How T...
----------
In this clip, Melvin Farmer broke down how the schools within South Central Los Angeles were breeding grounds for city's gangs. He weighed in on the commercialization of the gangster image in relation to hip-hop and films like 'Colors.' Melvin Farmer also detailed why LA doesn't allow people to simply drop out of their gang and how he never participated in killing other Crips.

*Eastside Low Bottoms shit !* HORACE MANN ! I'm off the East Side but i briefly lived on the West from '83 to '87. Finished the 5th and 6th grades at La Salle Elementary school and went to Horace Mann Jr High school for the 7th and 8th grades then moved back to the Bottoms in the summer of '87. The 60's and 8 Trays were going at it HARD in those days too ! I remember more than one rumble that shut the entire school down. There was even a teachers assitant that had 3 sons from 8 Tray and at least 2 of them attended the school. I was in the same 5th grade class with Rodney, the youngest son. Then i ran into the middle son Manuel in the county jail around '93.

I'm glad that Melvin along with Tookie came to the realization that that entire lifestyle is cancerous self destructive and now denounce it. I believe even though Nipsey was of a younger generation of Crips he came to the same revelation that contributing to the self destruction of himself and his people was not what his life's mission should be. Sadly there's grown ass men who find this lifestyle cool and honorable all while showing fake ass respect for the people like Melvin, Tookie, and Nipsey who seen it as dishonorable and killing off the hope for Black youth

He was in jail. 37 yrs . no tv was in jail back then man. That tv in jail is something new. I like the song "colors" but the movie is crap. They banned that song on radio though. No gang music was played on radio like today. Gang music is not rap music.
