I sense your frustration. That’s why pouring can be so inspiring one minute and hair pulling and hour later. I thought it was perfect at about 3:10, I can’t get enough of that three-dimensional contour map look. You think it’s done, it’s right where you want it, perfect, then do things happen, one sags and flows even more, and then to it dries in a completely different color. Yes you have to roll with it and be ready for changes, but I hear you on taking a break from using expensive pants, it can take the fun out of experimentation. Thanks for posting your results here, both the great ones and the not so great ones, I feel a lot better about not using expensive paint after watching this!

M, I remember a while ago watching a video, it had nothing to do with using the satin enamel but, it dried with those little round mosaic like pieces in some of the colors. They said it was because the paint was too thin. I don’t know if that holds any ground though. Personally I like the way it looks but have never tried thinning my paints too thin without having a mess of runny blended colors. Just wanted to pass it on to you. I don’t know what consistency your paints are using the fluids. I do love your work and thank you for sharing your experience.

When you do your cloud pours... Is it still your trademark pouring medium? Water and a little bit of liquitex pouring medium? I haven't had successful cloud pours, I think I did one or two in the past with your formula but had strayed back to floetrol.... I love your cloud pours!! Thx

All of your paintings are astoundingly exceptional ❤️! LOVE watching you create. What is your opinion of the Golden paints thus far?
@MelyDartist5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! In my opinion they are the best quality paints for fluid painting because of how they dry. BUT they are the hardest to work with because they dont create the type of effects we are searching to achieve easily. So it takes a lot of trial and error before achieving the desired result, hence costing even more. They're a bitch you love to hate. When you get it right you're blown away but it takes a lot of work to get there. And a lot of money!

Melissa, I so appreciate you sharing your learning along the way. I just received my first bottles of Liquitex pouring medium from Jerry's art o rama ($23 ea) super good value. I have no desire to use Golden paints because of the price, it takes all the fun out of experimenting because of the worry of wasting the expense. Question: Do you feel that in order to get the Cloud Effect, you must do a tree pour? I've been experimenting with puddles and ribbon and it is not quite working. Humn, more trials ahead :-) Best, Angela
@MelyDartist5 жыл бұрын
Well my idea of a cloud pour is to form some sort of cloud as opposed to creating cells. To stretch out that cloud I do believe it's best done as a ring pour. I dont think you could achieve the same type of result I'm going for with a puddle pour or other. It just won't result the same. Paint movement and stretching is key. Unless you pour 1 puddle maybe? But I dont think it would work the same.
@ruthbircham73405 жыл бұрын
Wow!!!! So brilliant!!!!😍🤗 I'm saving up for Golden🤗. Have you tried this technique with system 3 acrylic paint? Can it work for the cloud effect? Please could you try it 🤗🤗😍😍❤

@@MelyDartist Ok 🤗 where are you based?
@ColleenBrandArt5 жыл бұрын
Hi. Nice video. Your colors are darkening because you are using transparent (yellow and orange) paints with black. You could use them just with white and they won't darken or use two opaque colors with the black and white. Hope that helps! :-)
@MelyDartist5 жыл бұрын
I get what you mean and thank you for this! What I meant is the white darkened. Maybe because of the black but it did the same in the other painting and there was no black... I'm thinking its probably the satin enamels that react this way with the Golden. Hard to say when you dont know all the exact ingredients and how they all function :)

Another great result. I would be interested to see any video footage of bigger one even though didn't work very well, someone might be able to offer helpful advise. I suspect bigger is riskier not least because canvas may pool weight of paint into middle unless it is highly supported there, one reason i always paint on wooden panel.
