Simple is best - 12
Using a basic blending technique with a bush to create a background before pouring. No moving of the canvas. Just a paper towel and a straw.
In this video I'm working on a 14"x11" level 2 canvas from Michael's. I experiment with the Reverse Dip technique that I've seen on other channels like 'Fiona's Art' and 'Art by Susan King' and have been molding into my own style.
Products used:
- Cloud mix for the white (see Cloudy effect playlist for info on that technique)
www.youtube.com/watch?v=utB_o...
- Amsterdam standard series in ultramarine, ultramarine violet, sky blue light
- Liquitex pouring medium
- Water

A lot of people are commenting 1 - why don't you wet the paper towel? Answer: I've tried it and don't like it. I prefer dry. 2 - To go bigger why don't you use a piece of clothe? Answer: YES! great idea and I'm gonna try that. Thanks everyone! 😊👊

Thanks for sharing your flower dip experiments! I tried one a couple nights ago, & accidentally twisted the paper towel as I pulled it off. I love this! Mely... what if you try a big one using a light weight, cheap fabric like muslin. That way you can get the size you want without tape and the fabric will have a little more flow to it. Bonus you can possibly wash and reuse it so eco friendly too?!? I'm enjoying watching your experiments. Everyone else just did it a few times, called it mastered and moved on. I love that you study the method and question it and test it...it's beautiful! Laura m 🦋

good morning ! i really like the background then the flower over it . i know that when i started the reverse dips some artists used plastic wrap or wax paper crumbled up then laid on the canvas and it worked , so maybe for a larger canvas that might work . of course with the wax paper you straighten it so t lays flat lol !!! you certainly have put your own twist on this and given us all inspiration that opened up a new spin on the reverse dip . i think what i like best is that you have made it your own .

Instead of paper towels, you can use a thin rag/towel, to cover more space, however, as detail oriented as you are, you'd be best on bigger canvases, doing multiple flower in a bunch, with smaller sections of paper towel! I've done a few that way, and love them!

Holy crap that's so gorgeous. I love this technique. You could try using visqueen instead of paper towels for your larger canvas. Since it comes in a thickness greater than most plastics it won't crinkle like a plastic bag leaving artifacts you don't want, it's far more durable than paper & you'll have just as GREAT control when pulling the corners back, (you can also see through it like the paper) to lift & twist off that heavy paint. I'm sure dropping it has happened, that would be my nightmare 😭

@@Lulisette I don't use any of those so its hard for me to help you. Have you tried working with paint rather then additives? Dollar store paint is also way too cheap.
