Melyssa Ford is an icon. She’s been a star for over 20 years and we’ve been friends for that long. She’s smart, she’s fun, she’s got some things she’s vulnerable about. We talk about never getting married, surviving a brain injury, being perimenopausal, being a sex symbol and why The Joe Budden show works so damn well.

M4 is my favorite addition to the podcast. I’ve been listening to Joe for almost a decade and I love them adding a woman’s voice. I wish the guys would be kinder to her but I admire how she handles it and let’s the jokes roll off her back.

I’m a longtime JBP listener and I never thought the show could be shifted into a new era, but Joe did it!!! Adding Melyssa was necessary. I love hearing her opinions. I hope she doesn’t continue to hold back because her perspective matters

I agree, adding her to the cast was a great decision. Side note regarding the jokes, for men that's our way of letting you know I rock with you. If it's malicious or we're completely straight up and down with you, we don't really want you in the space and you're just being tolerated.

she has not "reinvented herself." She failed at real estate. She failed at trying to leverage being a video chick to an actress. She is changing the narrative of her relationship, especially the high profile ones where she was dumped (ex. flo rida). She is not the female role model from the 90s. How about Queen Latifah who has created a film and tv empire, leg3endary recording career, philanthropist, and Emmy and Oscar nominated actress.

She’s speaking facts about a brain injury…I had a stroke and recovered fairly fast physically and bc “I did not look like” I had a stroke ppl could not understand that my brain was not functioning properly. It’s extremely hard and depressing being smart and beautiful ur whole life but now everything u knew has changed. I totally empathize with her and I really have to start extending her more grace on the pod bc I forget about her accident. This shit ain’t easy especially when u have an addictive personality 🤦🏾‍♀️

When I was a young boy I watched an NRL (Rugby player) speak about a herb that helped him recover from a brain injury. This was in the 1980's. The herb is brahmi aka bacopa monnieri. The best brand to buy is Gaia Herbs Bacopa, and purchase their Ginkgo also. Take them at night with fruit. Your dreams will improve also. Take bentonite clay in the morning with plenty of water, don't stir it with a metal spoon. Stay away from foods/drinks with chemicals. - Dany, Coomera Australia

I’ve been listening to the JBP since before the pandemic. Joe & the gang brought me through a severe depression . And then Mel arrived and I had it all! I retired from NYCDOC, surrounded by men all day long for about 23 years. It’s a different world, so I can relate. You got to know how to play in their space and not get offended, while simultaneously holding on to your self worth and representing for other women, when it gets too outrageous. It’s not easy but it can be a lot of fun. Just keep it friendly with out any romance and it can work to everyone’s benefit. You might even become cordial enough with their wives to be invited to family bbqs. 😂😂😂

Many times, biracial men and women have different experiences because beauty politics come into play. A “biracial aesthetic” is celebrated in the United States for women more so than it is for men, so mixed women can run into friction in black communities where black women feel past over time and time again for the “mixed girl”. - However, I don’t think Melissa Ford’s beauty is due to her looking mixed. She’s just real fine. I’m just saying, there’s a lot of layers to unpack with that conversation. Also, Black people in America have been effed over so many times that we need to know if you’re truly with us, or just cosplaying blackness when it benefits your image/bank account and then undermining us when we’re not around.
