1:28:43 in this fight and the previous one where TaToH fled to the northwest and died, DauT is really hampered by the lack of upgrades. What DauT needed was not paladin, but Blast Furnace and maybe Cavalier. Then Paladin only if TaToH makes the mistake of giving DauT enough time to research it without getting halbs himself. DauT was fighting with knights with no attack upgrades: doing 6 damage per hit, killing HC in 7 hits. With Blast Furnace and Cavalier or even just Blast Furnace, they would kill HC in 4 hits. The Elite Woad Raiders are also affected. With no upgrades they kill in 4 hits. With Blast Furnace they kill in 3 hits (after buff to 14 base attack in patch last year). So Celts should go for Blast Furnace, and if Bohemians make a lot of halberdiers then you make woad raiders or champions: if they don't make halberdiers, then you can make paladin (or maybe spend those resources on rams).

1:08:55 Infantry don't need to be faster. If people are using them in ways that seem ineffective, then they just shouldn't use them in that way. Why aren't the MAA doing damage here? Because there are four villagers, and the weak villagers can run away. DauT chose to go for MAA in this situation where he didn't expect serious damage. Fundamentally, the strength of MAA is that they don't take bonus damage from spearmen. Spearmen + scouts vs spearmen + scouts is common, with spearmen often being traded off: but no one ever goes for militia, which cost 33% more than a spearman and win 1v1 with 40% of their health remaining. If both players have first infantry armor (more common than forging for spearmen), then militia wins with 50% of health remaining. Their weakness, compared to scouts, is mostly their speed. This contributes to fighting 4 villagers not being good: it's too easy for villagers to survive by running away. But something that players almost never do is use an option they have to prevent villagers from running away: bringing along a villager who can help isolate enemy villagers. Imagine if, at 1:08:55, DauT had a villager with the MAA, and that villager threatened to build a gate on extending southwest from the south corner of the lumber camp. If TaToH's villagers go back to work as they do at 1:08:59, DauT's villager could start the gate, and then build more walls to trap TaToH's villagers as they fight the MAA. The point: MAA do fine against units slower than them (villagers) and against spearmen. If you aren't fighting either of these units, then don't make MAA: make scouts. If a player should be making spearmen because it would be the best counter, but doesn't, then it's fine if making swordsmen is not the best choice. (In this case, DauT made MAA not because it was the best unit for the task, but because it was the only unit that could achieve the timing.)
