I'm a french student in Paris and I would've loved to have you as my biocell teacher instead of what we actually have at the University xD! I've been watching tons of explanations videos, but these are the best!! You have no idea of how much it clarified my mind :D Merci beaucoup !

I thought water is diffused through aquaporins because water is charged?
@kieranweatherspoon30779 жыл бұрын
+Tranquility99 Yes, it was discovered in 1992 that water uses aquaporins in certain tissues for rapid transport across the cellular membrane but it can also cross without them.
@megangyan63966 жыл бұрын
Water is not CHARGED (this implies the presence of an ion), it is however polar. Normally this would hinder its passage through the cell membrane at the phospholipid fatty acid tails are HYDROPHOBIC. But because water is so small it can 'squeeze' through. Aquaporins are used when cells need large quantities of what within a short space of time.
