Congratulations MeMe on learning to cook your rice in the oven. My mother, when she was alive, used to cook the most fantastic red rice 🍚 on top of the stove for fish fry Friday’s every Friday and it wasn’t until she passed that a member of her church actually approached me and asked if I knew how to cook red rice like my mother. You see mother used to pride herself on “tending” her cooking and I just never had the time to do that. So, I learned to cook most rice dishes in the oven. However, rice perleau with chicken, jambalaya, and hoppin’ John are better tended on stovetop. Also, I have a first cousin who is a fabulous cook and she can bake her macaroni and cheese on top of the stove. Ah…the joys of living, eating, and preparing good food! Always love.

I love yellow, crook neck/straight neck, squash. Visalia onions are seasonal but I love them too. Thanks for helping me cook my favorite vegetable better! Butter and onions yeah, sounding great MeMe! I love your videos! 🫂 Your recipes, tips and tricks. But, especially when you talk about getting together with FAMILY. ❣️ Those are some of my most treasured memories.❣️ It's difficult to explain the JOY that filled my heart when we would all gather together. (My Mom was one of six children and my husband was one of six children.) So much love filled one home! Grandparents, parents, Uncles, Aunts (we also had a Beloved MeMe) children, spouses, grandchildren, great-grandchildren + great-great grandchildren, friends and neighbors too - for decades. Our circle of love knew no boundaries. I was so very Blessed. My sister-in-laws and I didn't even have to talk about what we were going to bring, everyone had their signature dishes. Your videos remind me of Happier days gone by. Yes, the hours were long but the years were short. Treasure those times spent together and don't forget to SHINE FOR JESUS!

I didn't know about baking rice. I'll try it. I noticed that you use a spoon, in this case to stir squash. My Mom had one of those, that I got after she passed. It's wonderful for scooping ice cream. The best. I enjoy your videos, & I have tried a number of your recipes with great success. Thank you

I'm gonna call you Grandma Meme when I talk to you on here. And I just want to say Grandma Meme, I could watch you cook all day!! You cook the stuff I grew up eating. I live in VA. My mother hardly ever cooks now and I miss that 😢 I lost my deddy in 2021 so I have been grieving that and having a hard time with it. I know where he is though and one day I will be there with him. I laugh every time you say that you are heating the oven to 350 Degrees. I will occasionally ask my husband to turn the oven on for me and he says “OK on 350 Degrees). I guess I cook everything on 350 just like you do. PS. I am an Alabama girl and you have featured some recipes that are exactly the same as my recipe for the same thing. My mother was a cook that could make a boiled egg taste delicious. She had some funny things that she would say about cooking. We still laugh at something that she would say when she was frying okra, she would say “Don’t touch my okra, I don’t want it SCRAMBLED “. What she meant was that she didn’t want it stirred like lots of folks do because she flipped it, one spatula at a time to keep the batter from falling off. She lived with me the last 5 years of her life and she “TAUGHT” me to cook it like she did. When we have family gatherings, everyone tells me to please make mothers okra. I go right to KZbin every time a notification pops up saying that you have a new video posted. We southern ladies are fantastic cooks aren’t we. Love your channel ❤️

Hello, I am a new subscriber and love your videos. After binge watching your videos i tried to order your cookbook but it says out of stock or sold out, cannot remember which. I signed up for email notices and am hoping you will send an email blast when they are back in stock. At first I was going to get a cook book just for me BUT then the light bulb went off and I realized, your recipes are so easy to make and also to follow that this is what I need to get my two daughters to cook more and get the confidence that will then have them want and enjoy cooking. I am not a measuring type of person for the recipes taught to me by my mom and dad with Mexican food cooking. I grew up with. I measure with the palm of my hand and you have encouraged me to write what recipes I know for my daughters with actual measurements, but not for an actual cookbook, just to help them cook what they say is to hard to cook.. I know you're cookbook will help them learn and again, get that confidence.
