I was gifted a recipe similar to urs around 30 yrs ago and the title was..."Pink Stuff"! (The color it becomes is the name of the recipe😅) It's a simply made recipe but can be adapted with whatever ur fav flavors are. Here's my recipe: (it makes appx 4/6 cps of finished "stuff", it will depend on number of folks u are serving and how much each person eats!! Very easily made smaller or larger, with the amounts added!) For a crowd: 1 lrg mixing bowl 2 lrg containers of small curd Cottage Cheese 2 8oz tubs of Cool Whip 2 6oz boxes of Raspberry Jello (do not add any water, just the powder) Mix the Jello powder into the Cottage Cheese, once well incorporated, add the Cool Whip. Cover with plastic cling wrap, place in the fridge for a couple of hours and it's ready... This can be made a day or two ahead of time, before being served. Letting it sit for a couple of hours/days in the fridge allows the Jello powder to incorporate into the first 2 ingredients so there are no crunchy bits! Here's how u can make it ur own...add whatever flavor of Jello u prefer and add (DRAINED, patted dry) fruit of choice to either contrast or compliment said Jello. (I usually make it for Thanksgiving and Christmas as a side or even as an dessert!!) I love it sooo much that I could eat it with every meal, (appx 21 meals per every 7 days!) For those who don't like the texture of cottage cheese, this, with the cool whip added and the flavor) makes it sooo creamy and 80% of cottage cheese haters go back for seconds!! Watergate Salad 3.4 oz Pistachio Jell-O Instant Pudding mix 20 oz can crushed pineapple 1 cup miniature marshmallows 1/2 cup chopped nuts, your favorite 8 oz container Cool Whip, thawed 1 - Combine pudding mix, pineapple (with juice), marshmallows and nuts in a large bowl and mix well. 2 - Fold in Cool Whip and chill until ready to serve.

In the 1950s jello was Queen in my mother, MiMi’s kitchen. We also had a Jersey cow. My Mom loved making fresh whipped cream in her KitchenAid mixer that Daddy bought while working on the railroad. She would mix that fresh whipped cream with jello and black walnuts. Sometimes she would add pineapple. She called it Angel Fluff and usually took it to the First Baptist Church suppers. I miss you Mom.

My mom went to glory last year Christmas morning 2023. She was 101 years old. We made pistachio fluff with homemade whipped cream, marchino cherries, pineapple, sometimes some nuts.Sometimes some mandarin oranges

My grandmother had a similar recipe. She said the recipe would call for 72 mini marshmallows, and without fail, she would count all 72 marshmallows. It's a really fond memory watching her as a little girl meticulously counting them and dropping them into the mixing bowl. ☺️

I used fresh strawberries cut up & fresh blueberries & added cheesecake pudding mix, softened cream cheese (8 oz) & mini marshmallows, and about half a cup of milk. I think the name of it was Red, White & Blue Fluffy Salad. We served it for dessert & it was devoured!

The one I make called for pineapple orange jello, pineapple tidbits and mandarin oranges. You can no longer buy pineapple orange jello so I just buy it individually. Also had cottage cheese with the cool whip.

I turned 65 this year and I remember my mom and her mom making this when I was growing up. They both always added chopped pecans; sometimes they would add coconut flakes or shredded carrots. My wife makes it now for me. My mom had to show her how cause she’s from Illinois and she’d never heard of it! It’s truly a southern dish! Keep the videos coming Meme! We love watching them!

Cottage cheese instead of marshmallows, and add cherries. The ones in the jar with the juice. Added walnuts instead of pecans. Good stuff! I do drain alot of the juice because otherwise it won't set right in the fridge. Usually have this for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I like to add maraschino cherries. It’s really pretty at Christmas with the green Jello. Sometimes I get the pastel colored marshmallows. That makes it really pretty for Easter!

That is one of my favorites! A little restaurant here in Georgia had a chicken salad plate on the menu and it came with a big flaky croissant and strawberry fluff. I always ordered that when I went there. Now if I make chicken salad, I always make strawberry fluff to go with it. I do love orange fluff also, but have never tried lime. I know it has to be good too. I bet peach would be really good in the Summer.

Hint for opening pull tab cans- insert the handle of a spoon into the pull ring making kind of “T “ handle . Use the handle to pull open so much easier.

My mother and grandmother used to make variations on this recipe. They would always add small curd cottage cheese to theirs to give it more nutritional value. But they'd make it in orange, cherry, lime and even other flavors. It was always a hit at family gatherings. They've both passed now but I continue to make these fluffy salads for our holiday parties in memory of them.

My old church cookbook had a jello salad called Pear Seafoam. It was delish. It had a smashed can of pears, add 1 cup of the pear juice before mashing add 1 package of lime jello dissolve then mix in 2 6oz packages of softened cream cheese with mixer. Cool then add pears, 1 c whipped cream and 2 tables of cream, mix. Can top with more whipped cream and cherries. Thanks for sharing all your recipes.

Love your show! My family makes "Pink Stuff". We put a medium container of cottage cheese, a carton of cool whip, strawberry jello, and chopped nuts.. You could leave out the chopped nuts. And you could add your pineapple. Another great version of Fluffy Stuff.

I was so tickled when I found your video for this recipe. My tears welled up. My mom was the 4th of 14 kids and she did a lot of the cooking for the family. She was raised in Arkansas and boy was she a good cook. I miss her so much. I always smiled when she said she was making "fluffy stuff". This is an awesome recipe & will go with any meal hot or cold. Using sugar free jello is brilliant since there is a good bit of sweet ftom the whipped topping & the mini marshmallows. I love the orange creamsicle taste. I achieved it by substituting a 3 oz box of sugar free orange jelllo & a 15 Ounce can of mandarin oranges, which I drained. After I stirred in the mini marshmallows iI add a few tablespoons of the liquid from the mandarin oranges until I was pleased with the consistency. Yummy yummy!!!

We have a similar salad that’s popular in our family. My son named it “Aunt Kristine salad” because she always brought it to family meals. It uses whipped topping, cottage cheese, orange jello powder, crushed pineapple and mandarin oranges. We drained the mandarin oranges otherwise it seems to dilute the whipped topping a bit.

My aunt made her "fluff" with orange Jello, mandarin oranges, coconut and nuts. She put it in the middle of an orange gelatin ring mold, and it was very refreshing. I think it was from the Farm Journal which had wonderful recipes back in the day.

We call this Hubs' Fluff. Every holiday, he mixes same ingredients, plus one box of vanilla, banana, lemon OR cheesecake pudding (in addition to the gelatin). Makes a thick, almost cheesecake consistency. I've put it in a graham cracker crust on occasion, and it's wonderful served as a pie. We've also made it with orange sections and drained marachino cherries, though simple, straight pineapple is my favorite.

Loved the Fluff Show, Mimi! Makes me want to unearth our little Jello Cookbook. Our grandson's favorite 'fluff' is made with unflavored gelatin, heated with water and sugar, cooled, with sour cream and since it's the Dairy State, this grandma uses whipped cream. For those savvy enough, it's formed into a circular jello mold, decanted, and served with red fruit sauce in the center. This grandma doesn't trust her molded salad skills so it's served in a festive bowl and we skip the red fruit sauce. No red dye involved but really, no need to gild the lily. It's all about the Fluff. Served with a very large spoon. 😊

The Lime version would be good with Mandarin Oranges added, but I would definitely drain those not only because they would make the salad runny, but I don't care for the flavor of the liquid they are in. You could also add the nuts and fresh chopped Strawberries to the Strawberry version. This would be a fun salad for just about any meal since you have so many options of flavors.

wow, so many varieties! my mom got a version of this recipe in the 60's i think. it called for one small strawberry jello, one small container of cool whip, one small cottage cheese, one small can of crushed pineapple and one small can of mandarin oranges, drained. she said it was easy to remember because you just got one small of each item. however, as most of us know, small then and small now are rarely the same. jello pkgs for instance used to be 4 ozs, not 3 ozs as they are now - and these reduced can & pkg sizes can wreak havoc when we try our mom's and grandma's recipes! (think campbell's soup recipes - not the same because there's less soup now and it changes the flavor!!) BUT with this one - it's so easy to double, triple, experiment with - and i've never had a bad one! it's also easy to test taste as you go along. so what i finally settled on (we also have this at thanksgiving and big family dinners) i just get a large cottage cheese, lg whipped topping, lg jello (or two small and may bot use it all), one or two lg cans of pineapple tidbits, and either 4 smallish cans mandarin oranges or 2 big (all fruit drained together). what i've discovered is you can put a lot more fruit in there than it calls for! AND the one thing i hold back on towards the end is the whipped topping - for our tastes, we don't always add the entire thing. we like ours with lots of cottage cheese, while the jello and plenty of fruit bring in the sweetness. of course, that's just me. my daughter likes to use all the whipped topping. we've always just called it pink salad ; ) My mom and my gramma have both gone to be with Jesus, so I enjoy your down home talk and good cooking so much MeMe!!

It wouldn’t be a holiday meal here in Massachusetts without Auntie Val’s Green Sh!t, aka pistachio pudding fluff salad. Hers was whipped topping, pistachio pudding mix, a larger well-drained can of crushed pineapple, and no nuts because her daughter didn’t like them. For the Fourth this year I made a version with a fortified whipped cream/cream cheese mix and it was really good. Auntie Val has been gone for 12 years now but she lives on with this salad and plenty of good memories.

The green Fluffy Stuff reminds me of the Watergate Salad that came into popularity in the 70's and I loved it! A couple of years ago I made it for my husband and 2 sons and they did not like it so much. Boo hoo--I miss it and wonder if I'll ever taste it again! Glad your family likes it. Mine is quite similar to this. I omit the marshmallows I use the raspberry or the cherry jello instead of the strawberry one and I add cottage cheese and chopped fresh fruits of your choice. I like to do apples, bananas, peaches, strawberries, blueberries, maraschino cherries, etc. the great thing about it is that you don’t need to have a ton of fruit to do it cause a little bit of each fruit will in the end will fill one of those large bbq aluminum buffet tins. Because it makes so much I tend to make it for bbq’s or get togethers. Most everyone loves it especially my nephews and they tend to call it the pink stuff sometimes.

Orange sugar free jello, mandarin oranges, sugar free cool whip, mini marshmallows, with walnuts and a zest of mandarin peel. My grandma used everything but mini marshmallows and substituted with cottage cheese. Both are really good.

My mom made a versiong every holiday, picnic or BBQ. Only she also added cottage cheese and maraschino in place of the pineapple. Mom is gone now but my sister is now the keeper of the Fluff salad. It's a food tradition that we just can't let go.

To this I add soft cream cheese to the lime jello first or maybe pistachio pudding. Then I finish off with multi-color miniature marshmellows, optional coconut too. It is so pretty that my friend served it at her wedding reception dinner.

Yes, that’s exactly how my Mamaw made hers-with fruit cocktail, plus mini marshmallows and Cool-Whip. Everyone loved it especially the kids. My great, great aunt made different variations and hers were good too. It’s always a hit and I love the nostalgia ❤

I didn't read all the comments to know if someone already told you this, but you can use a " smooth edge" can opener with pull top cans. It opens below the edge of the can so it never hits the ring pull. Or at least I've been able to use it with the cans I have opened. If you haven't used a that type of can opener before it can take a few tries to get the hang of it. I will also use a can opener ring pull - not sure what they're called but if you do a search for that you'll get the idea. I have arthritis in my hands and am able to use both tools with ease.

My mother and grandmother always made this in the summertime when I was a kid. They'd make it in a cake pan with a graham cracker crust and chilled it.. I don't think they added jello, but did have the pineapple, marshmallows and cool whip. They also added chopped walnuts and maraschino cherries. They called it "Heavenly Hash. "

Just a tip for you darlin, if you flip the can over you can open it with your can opener as long as the bottom of the can isn't rounded, like some are. Hope that helps you out since I prefer the same, thanks for the videos!! God bless

Used to work at a place down in Mobile Alabama, we would have pineapple fluff on the desert menu quite often but it came in a bucket and i never knew exactly what was in it but omg it was amazing, ive seen many versions but never exactly like it. I miss the Hickory Pit's food!

I think I would love this fluffy stuff. Add something you like, nuts, raisins, dried cranberries, and most any fruit that is fresh or canned, even mandarin oranges, coconut, shredded cheeses, cottage cheese, this is all I can think of.

My mother's recipe included Black Cherry Jello as its base then calls for crushed pineapple, mandarin oranges, 1/4-cup of sweetened shredded coconut, jar of maraschino cherries, 1/2-cup of toasted black walnuts, and sometimes she would add either white or red seedless grapes -- whipped topping and marshmallows were the same as your recipe.

My sons loved this growing up, we call it Pink Salad because they loved the cherry jello. I always drained my pineapple and I added cottage cheese instead of the marshmallow, but this is very versatile and delicious.

I do the orange too with cottage cheese but don't add pineapple, just mandarin oranges and no marshmallows. Took it to a church dinner and everyone wanted the recipe. I call it dump salad! Just dump it all in a bowl and mix! I drain the oranges. No juice in it. I guess you need the juice if you add the marshmallows.

We have made this same salad in our family for years, only we add a can of strawberry pie filling to the strawberry jello and a few fresh strawberries. Yes you can tweek it different ways and it still turns out good!

If you add crushed up meringues to it and fresh strawberries, it’s a bit like an Eton Mess. We use fresh whipped cream because Cool Whip type toppings is only an American thing. For us in the UK, Australia and NZ, this is a dessert not a salad, lol. Love the colours!
