Before it (the Skink) was added, I would kick ass in the Crusader AA Mk.II with that sweet 50mm armoured turret and twin 20mm cannons, but had a kind of weak engine deck. The Skink allows me to have double the cannons, over double the armour on the Hull, AND a faster reload to boot. This thing will be Aced a lot faster than Mk. II, and I still have yet to Ace my previously favourite SPAAG. Like, literally going into a game of Ground RB at either 5.3 or 6.0 I cant remember off the top of my head, Cargo Port, Stock Skink. 8 enemy aircraft. only damage was a single optic went orange. Strafed, rocketed, bombed, the Skink did not care. The Skink crushed the infidels. EDIT: I shall post the video in question, to prove I am not full of it, and that I did indeed yeetus deletus like some idiot fighting bigger idiots, since that was what happened.

Fact about the M3 Although it's height is mostly is a disadvantage, it did have 1 advantage though. the Hull from the keel to the roof is so tall that a 1.7 meter tall man can ACTUALLY stand perfectly upright in there, the Soviets used this to their advantage by turning them into APC's where the M3 Lee's would carry the crew and an entire Infantry squad (16 men) inside with all guns still functional (although severely hampered) and when they got to the battle they'd all come out the side doors like a clown car.

Actually in War Thunder that second gun in the M3 saved me several times. “They got the gunner” didn’t need that top gun anyway. Say hello to my 75mm. Lmao. Plus that 2 gun design is perfect for luring out noobs who think you just wasted a shot, only to come round that corner and get a face full of 75mm :P it all depends on how you use it. In urban environments the M3 can be rather potent. Especially when you use “bait tactics” to lure other players to their destruction.

"Hold out baits to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and crush him." and surprisingly enough, on urban maps this works. though I now use the M6 for this tactic. double the guns, double the fun I always say.

The BT tanks wheel/track system isn't as daft as it sounds at first. tracks are actually an extremely bad way of moving around outside of the battlefield. Main reason why tanks mostly got moved around by rail. The BT series got quite a strategic advantage being able to move swiftly to whichever front it was needed without shredding its tracks to the point it couldn't do anything without repairs by the time it got there.

Metal Madness the M-3 Lee/Grant we’re very good tanks that easily outgunned German armor in North Africa. It wasn’t until the age of the internet that it started getting a bad reputation from so-called experts. Especially nowadays, every person that plays WW2 video games think they are experts on tanks, aircraft, ships, and firearms. If you actually study the history of military armor you would know that it was a very successful tank and well loved by the crews who used them (except maybe the Russians, they bitched about everything).

The option to drive without the tracks is one of those design quirks that I can completely understand early tank designers considering potentially useful. Especially when getting tanks quickly and reliably from one location to another. It eased the burden of steering on long drives and reduced wear on the track linkages.

BT is a fun vehicle to cheese other tankers with if you know how to use it; you basically use your speed to run past people dumb enough to be all by themselves, power-slide around to their side or rear (their turret traverse usually isn't fast enough to keep up with you) and hit their gunner and ammo rack. You can do the same thing with the M2A4 and M3 tanks in WT also.

Yeah, the Germans were concerned by the 75mm gun it carried. Up to this point British anti tank guns mounted in tanks were not great at firing HE but the 75 could fire both types and effectively for the time.

The Arisen also it wasn’t really much a bad design in regards for it just being an American concept. A lot of the major allied powers fielded a duel gun style tank. France with the Char, Russia’s with its multi gun turret tank and then America with Britain following suit. I’m not sure why this trend was taken so keen by the allies to have a all in one tank as opposed to a specialized tank for each role. But you see after Africa they start adopting the German concept.

It was more that they needed to get a high caliber (and in the M3's case, high velocity) gun into the tank instead of having an all in one tank. The turrets of most interwar tanks weren't capable of accepting a large caliber cannon, usually due to lack of space, and the common AT guns of the time (37-57mm) tended to have weak HE shells. Most of the tanks with hull mounted cannons were intended to provide infantry with what was essentially direct artillery support, knocking out bunkers or other heavily entrenched positions. Even German tanks at the time were limited to, at best, short barrel 50mm cannons that were quickly proven to be ineffective for direct AT work. It wasn't until the Panzer IV F.2, which didn't enter production until mid-1942, that Germany started mounting high velocity, high caliber guns on their vehicles which were truly effective at combating Soviet, British, French, and even American tanks. The Soviets already had their T-34s and KV-1s well before the Germans fitted the KwK43 to the Panzer IV, and the M4 Sherman was finalized and replaced the M3 Lee at about the same time as the F.2 came into production. British tank design lagged behind more, but their heavy tanks like the Churchill and Matilda were both well protected against Panzer IVs and the Crusader was sufficient for the time being, as its 57mm gun could reliably knock out Panzer IIIs and IVs at normal combat ranges. It was standard practice for both German and Allied forces to lure anything heavier, such as a Tiger (on the rare occasion one showed up) or a Churchill, into an AT gun like the 17 pounder or Flak 36s being used as improvised AT guns.

You severely downplay the usefulness of the Lee. They tacked on the 75mm gun because it was requested, but not possible to put into the turret due to that requiring significant retooling. The Lee was never intended to exist as such, but the British were in desperate need of a tank and the Lee performed well where it was deployed at the time it was deployed (including North Africa and especially the Pacific).

Meme Tanks: "The one's that didn't nessecarily suck" edition. Skink and BT's could have been much more effective under different circumstances and saw some limited success. The Lee is the biggest meme of the 3, but was still sucessful in Asia, and some of the systems were carried over to the Sherman.
