Congrats Dr Hinton. U. T already had various professors from Stanford teachimg back in the 80's and now this Nobel prize should further attract more top talents around the world. My uncle sold his house on henry street about a mile from the UT Sanford building labs way too early...real estate prices would jump even higher than already crazy price level around U T downtown campus now.

我同意, 一個model , minimize MSE ... 借 Linear Algebra + Vector Calculus + Statistical Learning+Information Theory + Optimization + Bayesian Stat. 呢D Applied Maths Topics 再加CS 果D data structure 做理論基礎 Backpropagation, Chain Rule, Gradient Descent , Cross Entropy 呢D technique 連Pure Maths都算唔上, 頂多係Applied Maths上的optimization LSTM , ResNet, YOLO , Regularization , Hyper parameters tuning, Transfer Learning, Encoder...呢D已經走左去Engineering Design條路, 真係唔知點解算上物理, 如果NN係物理， apriori algorithm d counters同 decision tree都應該係物理😂

@@nottoday3429 well...down to the very core fundamentals...everything is physic...chemical reaction due to atomic physic, medical science due to biochem due to atomic physic, etc etc, meaning our DNA also due to physics of those different combo of DNA nuclertides forming us as a fool or as a genius...with genius like those AI pioneers one of them now winning a Nobel in physic...butteryfly effect you may say ?
