Fun fact: in asia, generally, the 1st and the 2nd place of the class will be enemy, but the last and the second to the last are friends😁
@samsunggalaxya1323
@samsunggalaxya1323 3 жыл бұрын
The 2nd one is mostly the only one who's stressing about it The first one is trying to better themselves and that's why they don't get frustrated that much The second one is just trying to be better than the first one. That means when the 2nd one is better at ONE exam, they feel like they succeeded and kinda lack for the following exams, while the 1th one isn't comparing to anyone except themselves

@@samsunggalaxya1323 i relate to this one, I was always the 2nd best student in my class all throughout my elementary years i got all frustrated as to why I can't beat the 1st one in our class, but then when I was in junior high (10th grade) I was best friends with the 2nd in our class while I was the 1st, then there came the time where I was in senior high school, I was just cool with it, I mean wirh jusy being the 2nd best again, but then the 1st one in our class, I feel like he hates me and he's kinda threatened that I might beat him because like he only leads on with 0.11 in over all average and such, in which I don't intend to like beat him and such but yea, I guess it really depends on the situation....

When he said Western parents try to be friends with their kids, I had very vivid flashbacks to my mom saying, verbatim, “I’m not one of your little friends!” She would also remind my brothers and I to “stay in a child’s place.” 🥴💀 It wasn’t until I became an adult that I could claim to be “friends” with my mom and even though I’m a mom now myself, I still tread VERY lightly! for the Asian grading scale the main reason this's true is because of how the education system works in china not every one can go to college even if they have money. student need to take a test and only the top student can go to college (don't know the number and the main reason why student go oversea for college) even if you past the test it don't matter if your not near the top. meaning that if you barley pass the test. there's a good chance your not going to college even thought you pass

I think the western vs asian in media picture was targeted as how the beauty standard for asian is different in America. not about how white people use to play them in movies. Americans cast asian people that are attractive by American standards rather than asian standard. There was huge controversy about how they casted the part shang-chi many people were mad because he was "too ugly" and they wanted someone of the asian beauty standards to play him, the marvel super hero. Also jaehwan has a point about the editing pictures as well. western editing is soooooo different from theirs. I guess this picture can be interpreted in many many ways :D
@thwb4661

@2freeIvX I think I'm one of those few Asians who think that many Asian actors in America will not even be considered attractive in Asian movies. I mean they're not ugly and there are some standouts who are actually attractive Asians in Hollywood but most of the time, especially the ones who are just supporting actors, they tend to look too basic since many of them aren't considered attractive in Asian standards. It's just my opinion though. I find Asian actors in Asia more attractive than the ones in Hollywood.
@nonofyb
@nonofyb 3 жыл бұрын

@thwb4661 3 жыл бұрын
@@nonofyb Lana Condor, Constance Wu, Brenda Song, Vincent Rodriguez, Ki Hong Lee, Harry Shum, Manny Jacinto, etc. This is plain subjective of course, but since Asian and American standards are different, here are the ones to answer your reply. But it does not mean they are bad actors at all. I just don't see them fitting with Asian standards of looks. I mean they're not at par with the looks of Sandara Park, Cha Eun Woo, Song Kang, Kim Soo Hyun, Park Seo Joon, Mario Maurer, Piolo Pascual, James Reid, Kathryn Bernardo, Heart Evangelista, Catriona Gray, Nadech Kugimiya, Pimchanok Luevisadpaibul, Lisa Manoban, Yang Yang, Li Xian, etc. They are what Asians consider the most attractive Asian celebrities. And, as an Asian, that's why I can say that many Asian Hollywood Actors (ofcourse there are exceptions like Henry Golding, Ross Butler, Ryan Potter) aren't what you consider facially attractive to the general Asian people. In my opinion, many Asian-American actors lack face value and I wonder why when there are a lot of facially attractive Asian celebrities in the Asian continent.

@@thwb4661 that’s wild. Although I find Lana Condor to be very pretty but I can see why she wouldn’t be consider Attractive especially in East Asia based on somethings I’ve heard about the beauty standards. What I don’t get is Manny Jacinto, he has really striking facial features but that’s wouldn’t be considered attractive either?
@thwb4661
@thwb4661 2 жыл бұрын
@@adetomiakintitan4980 I know right? A bit wild to me as well, but yeah it was a bit true considering the standards are different. Well, Manny Jacinto, does have a striking jawline and cheekbones but his face is a little too common, so he does not have the stand-out kind of look. He's a Filipino so I'd base it on the Southeast Asian standards, and he looks a little too ordinary compared to Filipino male actors like Piolo Pascual, Richard Gutierrez, Dingdong Dantes, Jericho Rosales, Diether Ocampo, and Paolo Avelino to name a few, whose looks are conventionally very attractive, leading men types of look in Southeast Asian standards. He's not ugly. He's actually cute, but he's just a little too common-looking, that's all. I've seen a lot of guys that look like him around Southeast Asia or at least have similarities to his facial features. Some are surfer dudes, some are office guys, some are construction workers/street vendors, and some are college guys. I mean his look looks pretty common and rarely stands out that's why he's not conventionally attractive by Southeast Asian standards.

I’m a straight A student, but after my high school entrance exam my parents were so mad at me, when I scored something that’s considered quite good( I was in a really bad mental condition that time) they had said if I didn’t score what was expected, it’s okay, as long as I tried hard. I did try really hard, until my hair starts to grey, but now I’m deemed as a failure in life😂😂😭

I can't be the only asian,who parents told to study but I answered back, "doing homework and study without having any feelings of wanting to do it is a waste of time, it's not like I will remember it if I study heartlessly." And my parents did approved that and also give a blow to me," I told you to study because no matter if you study heartlessly or even if you do it because you want to, your brain won't remember it anyway possible"

I couldn't relate to all but most yes. My opinion: Ngl asian parents really want us to get good marks to succeed ofc they shouldn't force them beyond the limit but I was very fortunate to have parents who gave me the freedom to choose a profession I have interest in. BUT being asian means you mostly tend to speak /know alot of languages lol like seriously I never understood the importance of languages until my university. I myself can speak 5 languages lol. It's kinda fascinating.

I feel like Asians and Africans are the same. 🤣🤣🤣 I am currently in China but I am from Zambia, a country in southern Africa and Chinese moms behave just like Zambian moms and other African moms. 😂😂😂 I had my mom randomly smack me in the supermarket or tell me not to come home because of my grades, I have seen Chinese moms randomly smack their kids in the supermarket. 😂😂 so I guess the west is just weird

AAAYEEE fellow Zambian!!! 👋👋👋👋 I never see Zambians in comments so I had to say hi😁 And yes Asians and Africans are very much the same about grades. When I got a B, I was told I should've got an A. When I got an A, it wasn't special, it was what I was supposed to do so no reaction.

I dont know is it because im chinesse and he is korean, or just because different type of family, but the meme about grade, and "don't come home if u get bad grade" its really really true..for me at least Well my parent didn't say "dont come home", but it's more like "i better not come home because my mom will kill me" (yelling, or hitting 😂)
