Loosing a game to make the kids happy is a big mistake. Rather tell them from the get go that there is a looser in every game and if you are going to cry about it you aren’t ready to play. Loosing deliberately says that the other player is incompetent and will never be any better.

If you overact your parent-part and underact yourself-part you will never be happy. Kids are almost everytime normal, if you threat them like humans(friends) ,not too touchy but also not cold. Explain them 1-3 times something in a normal way(they will understand 90% at the first time) Go on the knees if they say something, just to understand what they want. And there will be no kid in the sleeping room ever if you give a ROUTINE. No sugar(also in drinks) after 16:00h ,Brush teeth, toilet, water at the bed a bringing to sleep at 19:00-20:00h until 6 years. Thats nothing special. If you wanna give no rules ,don´t be a father/mother

TLDR: if about to or have young (~1.5) please read Set mutual respect, routine, and boundaries. So they know what to expect and feel safe. Unexpectedness can lead to anxiety and phobias. Don't forget to add some disappointment with modeled appropriate reaction to disappointment(start small, not getting milk right away when cry. Allow some time for the expression, acknowledge their need, and show you currently occupied within eyesight, object permance is a thing.) in similar situations (probably the hardest). Big reactions to small problems is easily learned. (Yes, how you react when they are infant also is impactful.) Know TLDR
