Nice to see you playing some older scenarios lately. Have you tried the jdrommel scenario "Defense of Parker's Crossroad" It has a hit and miss card draw element to it where axis starts on the flanks and allied are in the center, i personally dont mind that.

Hi Colin, Yeah I think I would find that frustrating. That's the reason I gave up on the operation mercury campaign. Empty sections and no cards in hand. Maybe against a live opponent but for a solo game/video, I really don't want to film myself throwing away cards lol. Thanks for the comment!

I have a very general rule question when playing solo. When you are making a decision for the opponent, do you have them attach one of your units with more pieces or fewer to allow them the opportunity to claim a victory?

There is no "opponent." I play each side to win as if I was playing that side against an opponent. It's why I physically move to the side of the table I am playing for that turn. Which units I decide to attack, based on how many figures they have, would depend on the specific in-game situation I was looking at. Generally, I would shoot at a weaker unit but not always.

Hey thanks for the comment. Yeah I'm holding steady health-wise, not getting worse so that's good. Yeah I'm on BGA. My handle there is Jon Washington if you want to look me up and play a game sometime. I'm usually on there after midnight Central Time USA and if you message me we can schedule something too. I have a couple breakthrough M44 files that are ready to go. Battle of Lauban Action 1 and Tank Trap in Ecouves Forest. I'm not that interested in playing the basic ones over and over like some on there. Cheers

It's not a good idea to pull back with the front-line Russians... IMO. You're unlikely to save them - but they can potentially weaken the German units seriously, weakening them for later pick-off by the Russian artillery. The Russians need to take some early risks with those - or the Germans can win by staying back and slowly withering away at the Russians.

Yeah there's definitely more than one way to play it. My channel is not meant to be a strategy guide that's for sure lol. I usually give them a turn to fight then pull them back. The Germans are going to keep coming so they either fight upfront or fight after pulling back. I don't think the Germans can win this without city/factory medals so I try to crowd those medals with the Russians.

@@jonplaysmemoir4461 It's an interesting scenario - and btw - the one that was used to gain the highest ELO on the Days of Wonder site (now the online game has moved to board game arena). A guy became an expert in winning this 9/10 times.

@@Nygaard2 I remember the guy who played it hundreds of time and kept track of the dice rolls to prove they weren't rigged. Maybe it's the same guy. Any time somebody whines about dice, I point them to that guy's thread on the DoW forum. LOL
