I just purchased Memoir '44 for the first time, with the four main expansion packs and the Breakthrough Kit. The Winter Wars pack suggests that the Winter/Desert Map be purchased first. However, the Breakthrough Kit also comes with four terrain maps including a Winter/ Desert map. Is there a difference in content or scenarios by purchasing the Winter/ Desert Board by itself versus the Breakthrough Kit which already includes the map? Check it Out! Answers are appreciated. I love Memoir 44 and own every single expansion. Including the rate ones like Tigers in the snow and the equipment pack. The only thing I'm missing is someone to play with... My friends prefer war games with fantasy theme and my family don't like war games. I know that many people are in the same situation so I still have hope for an official solo expansion. It would be really awesome, with its own solo battle cards deck and solo rules.. I think it would sell well.

I've been playing this solo since the pandemic started. I draw 2 cards for the bot and make them use the card that could cause the most damage. You need to change how some of the cards work with when the bot uses them: Recon 1 let's them play and activate an airplane (I have the flight plan expansion) as a free action. Ambush is played face up when it's drawn - on my close combat I roll a die, and if it "hits infantry" it triggers the ambush. Finest Hour uses the "hand size" of the scenario, activates the units that could cause the most damage in close assault, and they shoot a lot of dice. The trick is to have the bot play very safe. You'd be surprised how often a bot sitting in hills and forests causes massive amounts of casualties. It's very brutal on the beach landing scenarios.
